Highfield House at Hillhouse Farm Escapes is a welcoming, spacious base for families and groups spending a weekend exploring the Scottish Borders. Originally built in the 1800s as shepherds quarters, and thoughtfully renovated in 2022, this family holiday house blends traditional character with comfort and all the modern conveniences you would expect. And the house is dog friendly too.

A large living room is designed for cosy evenings in reconnecting with family or friends, with comfortable seating and a smart TV, along with a round table that is perfect for board games, cards or planning the next day’s adventure. WiFi runs throughout the house, so everyone can stay connected if needed.

The kitchen is made for easy group catering, with a range cooker and dishwasher, along with plenty of crockery, glassware and utensils. The oak dining table seats up to 10 guests with an extension leaf, making shared meals a highlight of your stay. There's a useful a downstairs WC and cloakroom too, plus a separate laundry room.

Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a king size bed and an en suite shower room. There is also a twin room and additional bedrooms suited to families, along with a family bathroom with bath and shower. A further shower room is located in the downstairs annex, which also offers an extra living area and second kitchen space, ideal for multi generational stays or those seeking a little extra privacy.

Outside, guests can enjoy a large open garden with seating at the rear of the house. For anyone enjoying the outdoor life there are walks and mountain biking routes straight from the door. And the energetic can book (at no charge) the on-site tennis court. A local pub is within a mile, or head to Edinburgh, just 22 miles away, for a wealth of options.

For larger groups, on-site Bracken House sleeps 10 guests. Groups who book more than 1 property can hire in a small marquee for communal dining or activities, with local caterers available.
