With a beautiful lakeside setting, this wonderful family holiday house near Presteigne in mid Wales is almost straight out of a Monet painting. It is an idyllic property for gathering together friends and extended family for a weekend away, a holiday or an intimate wedding reception in this unspoilt part of mid Wales. Hindwell Farmhouse is also a great base for walkers and cyclists to explore the adventure trails of the Shropshire Hills and the Brecon Beacons. And there is fly fishing on the lake although please arrange with the owners for permission to use the boats. If you would like to bring your horse, stabling is also available.
Please note that you only hire one side of this large house but it is fully self contained. The owners are in the other half, so on hand for any queries during your stay.
Hindwell Farmhouse sleeping 10 is on a working farm and there is no shortage of rural tranquility. The patio next to the lake is glorious, with a newly added 8 seater hot tub and a pretty little summer house. It’s the perfect spot for a family barbecue in the summer months, somewhere to relax with a glass of wine while the children set to work on the play area. The new garden room has comfy sofas and is peaceful for watching the sunset or enjoying a book.
Inside, the house has been renovated to create sociable living accommodation for a group while retaining original features including an inglenook fireplace and ceiling beams. A new kitchen is filled with all modern appliances to make meal prep a breeze. It also has a Smart TV. Sit down to eat together at the table for 10 or dine al fresco on the patio. The lounge is a cosy room with relaxed seating, a TV and oil fired burner, good for catching up or a board game to round off a fun day. The games room has a pool table as well as a facility to make hot drinks, popular with younger members of a mixed gathering.
The bedrooms are a handy mix of super kings or twins (zip and link), a double and a family room on the top floor, all elegant spaces with attractive décor and soft furnishings. The family room has a fantastic vaulted ceiling and a seating area with TV. 2 bedrooms have en suites and there is a shared family bathroom with bath and electric shower.
Presteigne is an interesting border town known as The Gateway To Wales. Wander around the pretty streets and look out for the guided walks. The Judge’s Lodging is a fascinating little museum, an original courthouse complete with cells. Brecon is worth a visit for independent art galleries and a well regarded war museum.
