The Historic Malthouse is a Grade II listed building in the heart of a picturesque village that’s the perfect base for memorable holidays for up to 16 guests near Bath, be it family gatherings, friends get togethers, small wedding parties,

The modern kitchen, with flagstone floors, is well equipped to prepare a meal in the dining area which seats 14 (16 when the studio is booked together)  in front of a huge fireplace for winter warmth.

The living spaces combine the traditional with contemporary. Large windows and stylish decor throughout. Sofas in both sitting rooms provide ideal spots to relax, with a wood burner in the lounge and TV in the garden room which looks out onto the garden and beyond.

The high standard continues in the bedrooms, by climbing the turret staircase, helped by a rope banister, some rooms configured as superkings and twins so everyone is happy. Spacious rooms with unique beams, window seats, feature fireplaces, classy soft furnishings with hand made curtains, garden views offer the perfect sanctuaries to unwind. The ground floor king size room with en suite is particularly handy for multi generational groups or those with mobility issues - please enquire. 4 bathrooms are positioned across 3 floors with good quality fixtures and fittings. Please note that the top floor areas share the same staircase and opens up into the superking, en suite and steps up to a twin (curtains for privacy). An excellent family area. 

Large garden to enjoy BBQs, table tennis, fire pit, playing with your dog or listening to the birds in the summer months.

In the grounds of the Malthouse we have a studio that sleeps two guests and one pet welcome, this can be booked with the Malthouse to accommodate 16 guests or just for more space. Also available on its own.

Explore pretty Cotswold villages, visit Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Longleat. The city of Bath is only 15 minutes away with many historic attractions including the Roman Baths and Royal Crescent, as well as independent shops and many local eateries such as Sally Lunns Bath Buns for afternoon tea. Closer to home. right next door to the the house we have one of the oldest pubs in UK.

Unfortunately this property is not suitable for wheelchair access. There is a ground floor bedroom, up 3 steps and shower room, non slip floor.

Well equipped modern fitted kitchen with island, open stone fireplace (wood supplied), Coffee machine, catering size pots and pans.

Dining Room

Inside dining for 14. Large open fireplace very cosy in the winter months. Music system. Al fresco dining and barbecues in open courtyard.

Sitting Room

Two lounges, one a has inglenook fire - wood burner, door leading to courtyard. Garden room has garden views and large 55’ TV. Both have comfy sofas.

Outdoor table tennis and badminton.

Heating and Open Fires

Centrally heated throughout. Log burning stove in sitting room - enough logs for 2 nights included. Large open fire in kitchen.

7 bedrooms - 3 super kings, 2 kings (1 ground floor en suite) and 2 twins. rooms have zip and link beds. Studio sleeps 2 more.

Linen

Crisp Egyptian cotton linen and fluffy towels are provided. Toiletries provided in the bathrooms.

Bathrooms

Ground floor en suite doubles as cloakroom. 2 large family bathrooms on first floor. 2nd floor shared bathroom with bath and shower over.

Children's Facilities

Travel cot and high chair available. There is a selection of books and games for children. Stair gate by prior notice can be fitted.

Outdoor

Large open courtyard and seating for al fresco meals. Extensive mature gardens with lawned area. Children's park right next door and cricket field.

Parking

On site secure car parking is available for up to 4 cars. Cars can also park on the Main Street.

Smoking

Please don't smoke inside the house. Should you wish to smoke outside please pick up all butts.

Electric Vehicle Charging

EVC is only 2mins away at the local farm shop.

  • The property is in the village of Norton St Phillip just 15 minutes from the city of Bath and 50 mins from Bristol. Close proximity to Frome, Bruton, Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Longleat. Accessed via the main A36. Iconic village of Bradford on Avon just 15 mins away.
  • Roman city of Bath is 7 miles. Longleat safari 11miles.Trendy Frome famous market 4.8 miles. Bradford on Avon canal and boat hire. Hot spot Bruton museum 18 miles. Wells with smallest city in England.
  • Norton St Phillip has a Co-op and an amazing farm shop with local produce. Bradford on Avon has a Sainsburys, just 15 mins drive, Frome and Trowbridge also have main stream supermarkets.
  • The George Inn at Norton St Phillip. Bradford on Avon many exquisite pubs and restaurants. Fox and Badger at Wellow, Wheatsheaf in Combe Hay, Castle farm up Midford Road. Fresfhord Inn, Freshford.
  • Bristol Airport is just under an hour from the property, you can get a taxi directly from the airport. A transfer can also be arranged.Heathrow airport is 1.45 hrs approximately 96 miles.
  • Freshford Railway Station is under 10 minutes from the house and connects to Bath Spa Station. Bath Spa is 15 minutes away, 7 miles.
  • Local bus services. Bus stop 2 min walk away and takes 20 mins to Bath City Centre. Bath Coach Station for countrywide services.
