Howgills Barn is a beautifully renovated Barn set within 5 acres of countryside with the backdrop of green, rolling fells called The Howgills. It is snuggled between the much-loved Lake District and the charming Yorkshire Dales of Sedbergh. We offer accommodation for up to 35 guests for family holidays, special occasions and celebrations, and hen and stag parties. Bedding (including towels) and the use of our hot tub are included in your accommodation price.

Howgills Barn facilities:
• Offers 8 en-suite bedrooms (a mixture of bunk rooms).
• A spacious open plan lounge with a dining area, 2 kitchens, a quiet room (TV lounge with Sky), a drying room, a games room, and an outdoor 2-acre games field.
• The main Barn lounge opens up onto a south-facing terrace where there are barbecues and a glazed gazebo with a Hot Tub. Our Hot Tub is perfect for unwinding or even stargazing with a glass of something 'nice', whilst reminiscing about the day!
• There is free WiFi and on-site parking.
• We are family-friendly and offer free cots and high chairs (upon request).
• Dogs welcome too (please note that we charge £16.00 per dog per stay)!

If your idea is to use our Howgills Barn as your holiday base, you are centrally situated for easy travel distance to explore not only the Yorkshire Dales National Park but also the Lake District National Park and both Eden and Lune Valley areas.

We also offer on-site activities, if you don't fancy going far, and these include; wine tasting, archery, geo-caching, prosecco picnics, and pamper sessions to name a few! Our Barn is a two-minute walk to the fells which is great for an amble or a good day of hiking or mountain biking.

Howgills Barn is located in the old market town of Sedbergh, with its cobbled yards and unique atmosphere and there are lovely local shops, pubs, and cafes to explore (places to explore are included on our website).

Facilities

Dog Friendly

By arrangement £16.00 per dog per stay. If booked as part of a sole occupancy group then dogs can be in lounges and corridors but not on furniture.

Accessibility

Room H has a wet room with disabled access and wheelchair access to the main lounge/dining area.

WiFi

Mobile reception is very good for most services. Broadband Internet facilities are available. Free Wi-Fi and a cable network to plug into.

Kitchen

Commercial kitchens with plenty of utensils, pans, cooking equipment, dishwashers, range cookers, microwaves, toasters, and kettles.

Dining Room

The main lounge area has 2 tables each capable of seating up to 35.

Sitting Room

Spacious lounge and dining room next to the kitchen which looks out to Howgill Fells towards Crook and Winder over the patio with tables and chairs.

TV and Music Facilities

Large TV in the mezzanine area with Sonos Bluetooth music system with surround sound.

Games Room

Some dual-use with meeting room. Table tennis (Ping Pong) table can be stored to use in the auditorium for other uses.

Heating and Open Fires

Under-floor central heating throughout with independent thermostats for all areas. An area outside that is suitable for small bonfires + a gas BBQ.

Bedrooms

8 en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 35 guests in a mixture of bunk beds. There are 3 double beds within the property and the rest are single bunk beds.

Linen

Bedding (including towels) and the use of our Hot Tub are included in the price.

Bathrooms

En-suite showers in each bedroom.

Children's Facilities

Children are most welcome if accompanied by parents. Cots and high chairs are available (upon request).

Outdoor

5 acres of land for ball games and open fell with streams adjacent with good clear footpaths to the Howgill Fells. Bonfire and barbecues. Hot tub.

Swimming Pool

A Public Swimming Pool is available (10 miles) at Kendal at a cost.

Parking

Single lane with passing places leading to space for at least 20 vehicles. Long-wheelbase trailers and large wide Camper vans are not suitable.

Smoking

Not in buildings or near windows or door openings.

Booking Information

Pricing is inclusive of the use of the hot tub, bedding, and towels. Please note: there is a minimum of a 2-night stay over midweek stays and weekends. We require a £750 security bond, fully refundable if there is no damage to our property. Discounted rates are available for smaller groups.

Sedbergh is 300 metres down our lane and England's official Book Town with interesting shops and tea rooms to browse the days away.
400 metres into Sedbergh Main Street where there is a local Spar supermarket is a short 800 yard drive away near Health Centre.
500 meters to Bull Hotel, Dalesman Inn and The Red Lion which serve food as well as a good range of local speciality beers. Dent Brewery beers also.
Blackpool Airport 60 miles. Teeside/Durham Airport 60 miles. Leeds/Bradford Airport 65 miles, Manchester 90 miles, Liverpool 90 miles.
West Coast line - Oxenholme - The Lake District 10 miles. Settle-Carlisle line - Kirkby Stephen 12 miles, Dent 10 miles and Garsdale 9 ½ miles.
Sedbergh – 400 metres. Bus stop with links to train stations.
