This gorgeous country house in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside is a fine example of Jacobean architecture at its best. Howsham Hall is a very grand events venue, perfect as a friends and 3 generation family holiday house between Harrogate and York. Set in 80 acres of private land, it’s a fantastic choice to celebrate a big occasion such as an anniversary or wedding ceremony. Howsham also works well for corporate team building breaks away offering fantastic facilities, stunning accommodation and lots of space for group bonding activities.
Guests cannot fail to be wowed by the grandeur and sheer beauty of Howsham Hall as they arrive. The hallway boasts a stunning wide period staircase leading down to the pillared entrance, a glamorous area for a drinks reception or the arrival of a bride-to-be. There are a number of luxurious living spaces including a well equipped house kitchen, dining room, a private lounge or drawing room, a morning room and a billiards room. Guests can even arrange to have access to the in-house Riverside bar, terrace and nightclub for some celebratory dancing into the early hours. This is a large room that can also easily be used for activities such as yoga or meditation during the day.
The 12 bedrooms include 2 family suites and the remaining rooms can be configured as doubles or twins. All are individually designed with beautiful 4 poster and vintage beds, feature headboards and fabulous en suites. Utter decadence.
The delightful grounds and gardens are dominated by a spectacular lawn where a marquee can be erected for weddings. There are lovely corners to sit, sip a morning coffee and dine al fresco while taking in the Malton landscape. Each area inside is light and airy with stunning floor to ceiling windows, window seats, elegant furniture and glorious soft furnishings.
Malton is a small market town, known as a top foodie destination and for traditional food shops. York is a 40 minute drive, a great day trip to see a vibrant walled city with historic greats like the York Minster Cathedral and the National Railway Museum. Harrogate is a bit further away but a must visit town if only to enjoy afternoon tea at Betty’s. The Yorkshire Dales show the very best of Yorkshire natural landmarks like Malham Cove and Aysgarth Falls and are hugely popular with keen walkers and cyclists.
