Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
Iona Hostel, Isle of Iona, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, sleeps 22 in 5 bedrooms.
Iona is a special place and Iona Hostel strives to reflect this unique quality. We are a 22 bed, independent, budget hostel situated at the north end of Iona, with fabulous views over the Inner Hebrides. Our own beach is a simple barefoot wander across the grass. We are a 15 minutes walk from Iona Abbay and 10 minutes more to the village.
The hostel is on my working croft of Lagandorain (The Hollow of the Otter)which specialises in producing top quality Hebridean mutton and gorgeous black woollen blankets from my black sheep. The croft extends to 60 acres and reaches from Dun I (the highest hill on Iona) to the lovely white sand beach of Traigh an t-Suidhe. The land has been worked for many generations, creating the familiar Hebridean patchwork of wildflower meadow, crops, and grazing land and home to an amazing variety of plants and birds.
We offer a shared and Green way of living and a quiet and respectful base from which our guests can explore our lovely island. Iona Hostel was built 10 years ago using simple technology and reclaimed materials, where possible. We promote a strong environmental ethos and strive to provide an excellent service for our guests whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities.
The hostel offers quiet sanctuary for those who seek it. It's a friendly, relaxed sort of place. Iona has numerous religious centres and the so the hostel deliberately offers a neutral and inclusive space for guests from all backgrounds and beliefs. It's a place to catch you breath and do some serious staring into rock-pools ! When you're ready to rejoin the world, the activities of the wider island are in easy reach.
I hope you will come and visit.
