Inside Kirkby Stephen parish church, sometimes known as ‘The Cathedral of the Dales’, you will find the ancient ‘Loki Stone’, symbol of an 8th century Norse god. There is also a wealth of local history to explore, including the remains of many castles, several having belonged to Lady Anne Clifford in the 17th century.
