## About The Property

Kench Hill Centre has run educational visits for inner city children for 45 years as a local education authority-owned establishment(London Borough of Hackney). We hold the LotC Quality Badge award. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation and delicious healthy meals, catering for all dietary needs. The 2 acre gardens offer plenty of space for varied activities on-site and there are many exciting options for day trips using our minibus e.g. to beaches, nature reserves, castles, many at low cost.

Single bedrooms, separate bathrooms and a lounge are available for staff. Pupil bunk rooms are spacious with modern showers and WCs. Many on-site facilities, including classrooms, craft areas, games rooms, lounge with DVD and playing fields.

The Centre has a strong sustainable education ethos. We have a kitchen garden, linked with activities including growing, healthy eating and cookery. Much of our food is home-grown, including free range eggs from our ex-battery hens.

A full taught programme of physical and outdoor environmental education is suitable for Key Stage 2-3, also facilities for study up to A-level. We can plan GCSE and A level geography and science programmes. We also specialise in family learning groups and ‘Healthy Breaks’ for families. We have expertise in working with children with special needs, particularly autistic spectrum and sensory deprivation. We have a fenced sensory garden suitable for toddlers and children with special needs, including a playhouse and soft outdoor toys.

Self-catered and self-guided options are available. Disabled access to all communal areas with ground floor bedroom for up to 3 occupants.

- **Dog Friendly:** Not allowed in house, apart from guide dogs.
- **Accessibility:** Accessible ground floor bedroom for up to 3 persons adjacent to shower & WC. Most areas accessible. 1 designated parking space.

- **Dining Room:** Seats up to 40 (in main building) or 80 (in new Straw Hall).
- **Sitting Room:** Ground floor lounge with TV/DVD, seats 20-30. Small lounge with TV, seats 6-12. 1st floor lounge seats up to 20. Plus classrooms & hall.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** TVs and DVD in lounge. Also Internet network (LAN) and wireless broadband. CD music system & bluetooth speaker in Hall.
- **Games Room:** Table tennis, table football, pool table.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** Oil-fired central heating throughout.
- **Bedrooms:** 1 single, 1 single/twin, 2 doubles, 7 shared bunk rooms (2-9 beds), plus wheelchair accessible room (max 3 beds) on ground floor.
- **Linen:** All bedding is provided, but not towels, which can be hired.
- **Bathrooms:** 1 bathroom with bath + WC (1st floor), 14 WCs over 3 floors, 9 showers, including wheelchair-accessible wet room on ground floor.
- **Children's Facilities:** Games room with table tennis, table football. Large playing fields with gym trail and climbing frame, wooden play-house. Indoor games available.
- **Outdoor:** Large attractive gardens with playing fields, fenced ponds, picnic area. Shetland ponies, chickens. Also kitchen garden.
- **Swimming Pool:** Not on-site. Tenterden Leisure Centre is 5 minutes away with wave pool and slides.
- **Parking:** For up to 15 cars in front of house. Field available for additional parking.
- **Smoking:** Only allowed outside.

## Booking Information

- From £1950 for 2 nights, inclusive of Hirers’ Liability Insurance. Negotiable charitable discount. Weekend hire period from 3pm Friday to 11am Sunday, with the option for a later departure after at £50 per hour after 11am. Also avaliable 4 night or 7 night stays or bespoke dates.
