Kings is set in its own beautiful grounds within Snowdonia National Park, within 15 minutes of sandy beaches.
Surrounded by trees, hills and mountains, a picturesque river runs through the grounds and there is a fire pit for those essential bonfire gatherings. Wonderful walks from the doorstep: access the mighty Cader Idris by either the Fox or Pony path, or take the lane to the famous Mawddach Trail, perfect for walkers and cyclists alike.
The world class Coed Y Brenin Mountain bike centre (MTB) is 20 minutes away and the National White Water Rafting Centre is 40 minutes away in Bala.
Kings is within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with an array of interesting wildlife including bats, birds of prey, otters and mink. Not to mention local sheep and chickens!
The finest castles in Wales can be found in Snowdonia and Anglesey. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle is about 40 minutes up the coast.
This area is famous for it's little trains. The miniature railway at Fairbourne is nearby whilst, to the north, is famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. Head south to visit the Talyllyn Railway - the world's oldest preserved railway.
The pretty nearby town of Dolgellau (20 mins) is predominantly built in local stone and slate. Here you will find supermarkets, banks, shops, cafes, restaurants, take aways and pubs, as well as several churches and some interesting historic points of interest.
Our nearest pub is 2-3 miles away in Penmaenpool, right next to the Mawddach, a beautiful setting. On the other side of the estuary, 35 minutes away, is Barmouth. Miles of sandy beaches, an interesting old harbour, shops, mini funfair, arcade and fish, chips and ice cream galore.
Although we have all these attractions on our doorstep, Kings is a wonderful get away from it all place. A remote, relaxing, mountain hostel.
If you require sole use of the communal areas and grounds, please book the whole hostel (42 beds).
