The main house was built in 1810 as a gentleman's residence and apart from brand new bathrooms and a mix of modern art and antiques its pretty much as it was then. A perfect location for multi generational family groups and celebrations.

Large drawing room and morning rooms open together to form one large reception room and the dining room can seat 20. There are 10 bedrooms, mostly king sized with zip and link flexibility. All bathrooms (6 en suite) have showers and most have both shower and bath. The family kitchen has a huge table for 12 and a 4 door AGA, together with a separate production kitchen.

The cottages are located in the courtyard behind the main house and in two wings. All are self contained and well equipped. They can be hired together with the house or individually and range from 5 one bedroom cottages, a two bedroom and a three bedroom unit.

The barn has recently been restored to provide a large space for parties and celebrations with other rooms for pop up bars and catering facilities and can be hired as part of a package. With stunning views onto the fell at the back of the property, it's a perfect location for special occasions, and can house 120 seated diners.

The garden is one of the most outstanding features of Longlands with a very romantic walled garden which is both ornamental and productive with an idyllic restored greenhouse and Orangery in which to sit and admire the view.

Pets are very welcome and there are very good walks directly onto the fell at the back of the property, from the top of which you can admire the Lake District Hills and Morecambe Bay with stunning views.

Large drawing room linked through double doors to a morning room which creates one large entertaining space for 20 plus. Small TV in morning room.

TV and Music Facilities

Dedicated TV room. Also a TV in the morning room.

Games Room

There is no games room.

Heating and Open Fires

Oil fired central heating. Open fires.


Main House: 8 king size rooms, 2 twins, 7 en suite. Also 5 one bedroom self catering cottages for 2. One 3 bedroom cottage for 6 and one for 4.


All linen and towels are provided.


8 bathrooms in the main house. One in each of the 1 bedroom cottages, 2 bathrooms in the 3 bedroom cottage. One in the two bedroom cottage.

Children's Facilities

High chairs and cots provided.


Extensive walled garden with Orangery. Walks onto the fell direct from Longlands.

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool.


Ample parking around the house.
