Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Meadow End Barn, Dorstone, Hay on Wye, Herefordshire, sleeps 6 - 12 in 6 bedrooms.

Meadow End Barn is a converted barn in Dorstone in the Golden Valley, close to the border town of Hay on Wye and 15 miles from Hereford. Ideal for families, or for groups of friends to enjoy a rural retreat together.

The house is set in beautiful unspoilt countryside, close to Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. This is a great area for walking and canoeing on the River Wye, and the famous town of Hay on Wye, known for its literary festival, is close by and well worth a visit. The house is the village and walking distance to the village pub.

Meadow End has a fenced garden for outside dining and good for dogs.

Inside there are four bedrooms on the ground floor, two of which are en suite and a family bathroom with a bath.

The main living area is upstairs, there is a well equipped kitchen and two further bedrooms, one ensuite, and a further separate shower room with loo. The large sitting room is double height with exposed beams, a wood burner and plenty of comfortable seating. There is also a dining table in the same room, great for groups and able to seat 12.

Underfloor heating throughout keeps the house warm in winter.

Free WiFi available. Some mobile reception better upstairs in the living areas.

Disabled Facilities

Easy access into the house with double bedrooms on the ground floor but the living areas are upstairs. Two loos upstairs.

Dog Friendly

Up to 2 dogs are very welcome but not on the furniture or in the bedrooms. There is a £20 charge for each pet to allow for extra cleaning.

Kitchen

Well equipped kitchen with large fridge freezer, range cooker, microwave, cafetières, dishwasher. Lots of pots and pans, mugs, plates, bowls.

Dining Room

Farmhouse table set in open plan huge sitting room space, with 12 chairs.

Sitting Room

Huge double height open plan sitting room with plenty of comfortable seating, wood burner and TV. Windows to courtyard and garden.

TV and Music Facilities

TV in sitting room and radios in some bedrooms.

Games Room

There is no games room. But we have a cupboard full of games, jigsaws and cards.

Heating and Open Fires

There is oil fired underfloor heating throughout and a wood burner in sitting room.

Bedrooms

Ground: 2 king en suite, 1 twin, 1 double. Upstairs: 1 twin en suite, 1 twin accessed via spiral stairs (both made into superkings on request).

Linen

All linen, towels, bath mats and tea towels are included.

Bathrooms

Three en suite shower rooms and one family bathroom with a bath and one separate shower room with loo.

Children's Facilities

Enclosed safe garden, games and puzzles.although the staircase is open from the hall and landing and there aren’t baby gates here.

Outdoor

There is a spacious courtyard for parking and a nice enclosed garden with lawn with barbecue area.

Swimming Pool

There is no pool although there are public swimming pools in Hereford and Brecon and wild swimming in the Wye!

Parking

Good off road parking in courtyard outside the house. Maximum 6 cars.

Smoking

No smoking anywhere in the property.

Booking Information

We use a booking system which accepts PayPal, or we accept bank transfers and cheques. Fully refundable damage deposit of £300 is payable in advance. Initial deposit is required followed by full payment 8 weeks in advance. There is a £20 supplement for each dog. Up to two dogs are very welcome.

Location

Meadow End Barn is in Dorstone, near Hay-on-Wye on the Herefordshire Powys border. 15 miles from Hereford and 20 miles from Brecon in a village setting in beautiful countryside in the Golden Valley.

  • We are on a bus route, regular buses run from Brecon to Hay and on to Hereford and the same in reverse.
  • Hereford and Abergavenny station are both about half an hour away.
  • We are in the middle of Dorstone village, and 6 miles from Hay on Wye
  • Peterchurch has a village shop, three miles away. Hay on Wye has plenty of independent shops
  • The Pandy Inn the oldest pub in Herefordshire and is a two minute walk. Also the Nags Head in Peterchurch, where the fire is always lit and The Blue Boar in Hay.
  • Birmingham and Bristol are both about 1.5 hours away.
