The Mill is situated on the Surrey/West Sussex border. Originally a corn mill, the Mill has been converted over the years to accommodate 40 guests within the main building. The site has 10 acres of grounds, much of which is suitable for pitching tents if required. The grounds comprise of meadow, wood, pond and stream, practically a nature reserve.
The Mill is available with exclusive use and makes a great base for outdoor activity breaks, exploring the Surrey Hills by foot, road/off road bike or vehicle. It is suitable for families and friends, reunions, clubs and get togethers, with flexible catering options available to suit your group.
There have been 3 very different wedding receptions held in a marquee in the Mill grounds - all as wonderful as each other - plus other large family and friend celebrations within the grounds. The large commercial kitchen lends itself very well to mass catering with ample crockery, cutlery, glasses and cookware. There is an ideal setting beside the lake with weeping willows and other large trees and conifers as a backdrop.
Rooms are mainly 4 bedded (2 bunks) but there is also 1 x 2 bed (bunk) plus, on the 2nd floor, a dormitory for 18 (9 x bunks). All rooms have adjacent toilets, washbasins and showers, 14 in total.
The village pub, the Parrot, is 5 mins walk away: the Butcher's Hall, nextdoor, offers locally sourced meat, dairy produce, bread and groceries. Ockley and Dorking stations are 3.8 miles and 10.5 miles respectively. Cranleigh, known as England's largest village is the nearest shopping area at 5.1 miles away. It also has a Leisure Centre and Golf Course, as well as churches, banks, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and quirky independent shops.
Leith Hill tower, the highest point in the south east at over 1000 feet, is a beautiful 40 mins walk away with a choice of many trails to follow through diverse habitats. On climbing the steps to the lookout at the top there are some pretty fantastic views of the South Downs and the London skyline to the north. The Rhododendrum Wood is en route, created by the sister of Charles Darwin, also Leith Hill Place, the childhood home of Ralph Vaughn Williams, composer.
