Moreton House is a grade-II listed Georgian stately home, near the beautiful North Devon coast on the outskirts of historic Bideford. Lovingly restored and family owned, this luxurious and spacious award-winning accommodation is built around the original Victorian kitchens, scullery and servants’ hall.
All 9 bedrooms are en suite, with high ceilings and period features. Each is characterful; many with 4 poster beds and roll top baths, but with all modern conveniences.
Rooms are arranged on the ground and first floor around a private open courtyard dining area with BBQ and fire pit. Deck areas with seating are reached by French doors from the group dining area. Large indoor playroom with soft play, trampoline and table tennis.
5 acres of grounds, surrounded by woodland, with croquet lawn, secret garden with camp fire and gazebo, hammocks and swings. Bikes, boards, SUPs and beach toys can be borrowed for the nearby beach, walk on the southwest coast path and cycle on the Tarka trail. Ample parking, with fast EV charging.
A large first class communal kitchen and dining room allow space to gather together. The group lounge has deck access and a wood-burner for cooler evenings or an atmospheric Christmas break.
Compartmentalised family units afford privacy if required, with extra lounges and kitchens, so different groups can follow their own routines.
Perfect for celebrations for multigenerational families and friends, the facilities are also ideal for retreats, corporate events and weddings. Respectful stags and hens welcome. Some of the formal state rooms of the house, such as the bar, grand dining room (seating 70) and ballroom, are available by arrangement, with planning assistance, private dining and catering options, for weddings, conferences, celebratory dinners.
Appledore and the pretty heritage village of Clovelly are nearby, and the beaches of Westward Ho!, Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe. Easy access from Atlantic Highway to Tintagel, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Exeter, Tiverton within around 1 hour.
