2019Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
National Trust - Southwood House Farm, Leicestershire, sleeps 7-14 in 7 bedrooms.
Family holidays, weekend breaks or any special occasion where you're getting a group together will be assured of a wonderful time when you stay at this former farmhouse that's packed with historical character. Welcoming 2 dogs as well, the house is perfect if you don't want pooch to miss out on your fun (or walks). You'll love the location on Calke Estate, run by the National Trust, with out of hours access to the stunning Calke Abbey, and there are local pubs nearby if you fancy a restorative pint or don't feel like cooking.
Inside the house, the 7 bedrooms are split across 3 floors, so if you're planning a break with extended family, then you can all spread out around the house. There are also 2 sitting rooms, so you can bundle the kids off into their own space if it all gets too much. The beamed kitchen has everything you need if you haven't escaped to the pub for dinner, and there's enough space for everyone to eat in the dining room with its quirky bright red wood burner and long-case grandfather clock.
The large garden is mainly laid to lawn and there's a stream that runs at the bottom too. There's also parking for 5 cars at the front of the house.
Beyond Calke, you'll find this corner of Leicestershire close to the southern end of the Peak District for sensational walks, or you can spend time exploring market towns like Melbourne or bigger cities like Nottingham and Derby.
