Old Brampton Barn is the perfect setting for a family celebration or gathering of friends, with plenty of space combined with privacy and seclusion.
There are two TV rooms and plenty of puzzles and board games. Underfloor heating and a wood burner keep everywhere cosy. All bedrooms, except two king-sized double rooms, are twins.
The barn is surrounded by a large garden in which guests can relax and barbecue and play croquet, cricket, football. There is also a games room with snooker and table tennis and other games. A neighbour is happy to rent out her hard tennis court to guests at the barn.
The barn is reached by a country track and is in an area of outstanding beauty. The Wye Valley Way, the Ross Way and Herefordshire trail all converge just below the barn near the river. There is a canoe launching site on the river and outstanding country walks - ideal for dogs, children and adult ramblers! Fishing day tickets can be obtained in Ross. This is country heaven!
Although secluded the barn is very accessible from the M50 (no traffic noise!) and only 2.5 miles from the pretty market town of Ross with supermarkets, good butchers and delicatessen. Also a public swimming pool, though river swimming is a favourite round here! Every Sunday morning there is a large car boot/flea market. The historic larger town of Monmouth is easily accessible (15 mins dual carriageway) with Waitrose, Cook and The Savoy Theatre & Cinema (reputed to be the oldest working theatre site in Wales).
There are several excellent pubs locally, with great food, local beers & ciders (The Loughpool Kitchen/Sellack, The Cottage of Content/Hoarwithy).
This area of the Marches is noted for its castles, ancient houses and beautiful gardens. (Chepstow, Goodrich, Raglan, Skenfrith, White Castle - the list of castles is endless!)
It sits between the historic Forest of Dean with all its activities and the romantic Brecon Beacons and Golden valley. The Malvern Hills are a half hour drive away.
The famous book town of Hay on Wye, with its literary festival is approximately 35 miles away, and Cheltenham with its various festivals is a sophisticated spa town. Racing is available at Hereford, Chepstow and Cheltenham.
