Spacious holiday house for 12 with a hot tub near Crieff and Edinburgh, ideal for family reunions and special occasions
Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. The Old Manse of Monzie, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland, sleeps 2 - 12 in 5 bedrooms.
The Old Manse is a pretty 18th century house situated in the tiny hamlet of Monzie, just 3 miles north of Crieff. It's a very spacious house so perfect for a gathering of family or friends to celebrate a special occasion, or for a longer holiday. Surrounded by the glorious Perthshire countryside, it is an idyllic spot and ideally located to explore much of Scotland.
Perthshire itself offers a huge variety of things to do and stunning scenery. The surrounding hills, glens and lochs provide interesting walks (lots from the doorstep), hill climbing, cycling (on and off road), water sports, fishing and all manner of outdoor pursuits. There are lots of good golf courses nearby including a championship 18 hole course in Crieff, and Gleneagles is just 12 miles away, with its three championship courses, equestrian and tennis centre and shooting school. Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily reached by train or car for a day trip.
Crieff has a good range of restaurants and cafes, as well as the oldest distillery in Scotland at Glenturret (The Famous Grouse Experience). Perth has a great array of independent shops, art galleries, museum, theatre and concert hall as well as some excellent places to eat. There are lots of castles, historic homes and gardens in the area to visit too. Wildlife is everywhere: lapwings, oyster catchers, red kites, sea eagles, ospreys, golden eagles (if you're very lucky!), magnificent skeins of geese, red squirrels, otters and deer.
It's a great place for a hen or stag weekend - there's an outdoor activity centre just 2 miles away, two nearby spas, local gin and whisky distilleries, and I can recommend an excellent caterer if you want a special dinner one night. Recent hen parties have had a bouncy castle on the lawn, a wine tasting, and a cookery demonstration - but most seem to enjoy the house and hot tub and don't leave all weekend!
You may prefer just to relax at the Old Manse: perhaps playing a game of croquet or scrabble, unwinding in the garden admiring the views (in or out of the hot tub!) or putting your feet up in front of the fire!
The Old Manse was our family home for years - it has a very special atmosphere.
