This former Post Office is the perfect space for family and friends to holiday together without feeling cramped! In the pretty village of Alnmouth, which has two sandy beaches, one facing the sea and one next to the estuary. A good supply of pubs, bistro's, tearooms, gorgeous gift shop, paper and post shop, excellent deli-village store, pretty church, golf course, small play park with family barbecue area and a smart art gallery completes the village scene. We even have a Franciscan Friary in the village!

The house has a kitchen and utility, downstairs toilet and cloakroom, cellar games room with table tennis and table football. The three spacious reception rooms are interconnected with French doors to give one big living space or three individual rooms, two of which have wood burning stoves as well as central heating. 32" TVs and WiFi.

Upstairs, there is a separate family bathroom and four of the five bedrooms are en suite. Room lay outs are: family en suite - 1 double and 2 single beds, 1 double bedroom - not en suite. A double en suite, a king size bedroom adjoining twin bedroom with Jack and Jill en suite.

There is an enclosed and lockable yard with storage for bikes, clubs, pushchairs. Outside is a table and bench, and pot plants.

200 metres further down the village we have an apartment in a listed former granary which sleeps 6 in 2 double and 1 twin rooms with stunning sea views! Aptly named "Sea View", this apartment can be booked in conjunction with The Old Post Office bringing the bed spaces up to 18!

These are lovely properties that are not for the hen and stag party market, but lend themselves perfectly to family and groups of friends or to groups of overseas visitors who are looking for a traditional but stylish holiday in a quaint and characterful seaside village.


Dual fuel stove, tall fridge, dishwasher, microwave cooker. Utility - washing machine, tumble drier, small freezer and second sink.
The traditional style dining room has two large tables and chairs to seat 12, and two high chairs.
Comfortable sofas, armchairs, occasional tables, with both central and lamp lighting, making both the sitting-room and lounge relaxing areas to be in.
2 x 32" flat screen TVs in sitting-room and lounge, so nobody will miss their favourite programmes.
WiFi in premises.
Cellar room with table tennis and table football. Plastic seating provided. This is popular with all age groups.
2 wood burning stoves (logs provided) with sturdy stove guard and the biggest log baskets imaginable.
Family room with double and 2 singles. 3 double rooms (2 en suite). 1 double with adjoining twin bedded room and Jack & Jill en suite. Travel cot.
Linen and towels provided but please bring own beach towels.
1 family bathroom with bath, toilet and wash basin. 3 power shower rooms with toilets and wash basins.
Although aspects of this house are ideal for visitors with disabilities, the old front and back doors make it impossible for wheelchair access.
Cellar games room (NB stone steps) with table tennis and table top football, plastic garden type chairs and board games. High chairs and travel cot.
Lockable enclosed yard with pot plants and garden table with bench seat. Storage for bikes, clubs, pushchairs.
The north sea is around the corner! Nearest public swimming pool in Alnwick.
Two off street parking spaces and one on street parking space (in front of off street spaces!) adjacent to house.
Strictly only permitted in enclosed yard with due respect to future holiday visitors - we ask that you do not stub out on the paved ground.
Well behaved house trained. Not to be left alone in property. Not allowed on furniture or upstairs. No pet fee taken but damages charged for in full.


In coastal village of Alnmouth, 30 miles north of Newcastle 80 south of Edinburgh. Beach 5 mins walk, under a minute by car. Alnwick 4 miles.
Alnwick 4 miles, supermarkets, superb theatre/cinema, hospital, churches. Edinburgh and Newcastle 1 hr 20 minutes by train - station a mile away.
100 metres to paper shop/post office, licensed deli/store with milk, bread and good deli counter, gorgeous seaside gift shop and excellent art gallery.
Several within village all within a few minutes walk, pubs, bistros and tearooms.

Booking Information

WEEKLY BOOKINGS ONLY. Old Post Office Friday changeover. Minimum for week from £1,650 Winter/spring longer stays by negotiation. To book Seaview apartment changeover Saturday, this is priced separately. Dogs are welcome in The Old Post Office at £20 per dog per week. Call to discuss numbers allowed.
