Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. The Ongar Bell, Chipping Ongar, Essex, sleeps 8 - 12 in 6 bedrooms.

The Ongar Bell has been lovingly restored and tastefully modernised to provide our guests with a home-from-home feeling with the added bonus of being your own landlord/lady in the heart of Essex, surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to Brentwood where TOWIE has made the Sugar Hut famous for a fantastic night out in true Essex style.

With 6 individually-styled bedrooms, there's enough space for up to 12 guests, but with so much on offer we're certain that you won't be spending much time in your room. At the heart of The Ongar Bell is an opulent lounge bar where you are the landlord/landlady, making it the ideal place to host the ultimate lock-in or relax over a casual drink with friends or family. The lounge bar also boasts a snooker table, darts, game consoles and an impressive 75” plasma TV with Sky HD - perfect for watching the latest movies or catching up on the sports games.

On the first floor, a spacious living room with a vaulted ceiling and wood burning stove awaits, while the adjacent dining room offers a stylish setting in which to host your own dinner party - there's even a dumb waiter to send food up directly from the kitchen.

Outside there is a beautiful garden laid over three levels, the first level is a large walled patio area with more than enough seating to enjoy the barbecue. The second tier is laid to lawn and flower beds with a picturesque gingerbread house that is lit up by fairy lights at night, creating a magical ambience. The third tier is a private walled garden that houses a 10 person hot tub together with a changing room, shower toilets. The hot tub is covered by a Japanese styled pergola situated in our Japanese garden together with koi carp pond. Please note that the hot tub carries an additional charge and can only be rented by the day, we also offer spa treatment and afternoon tea for a minimum of 10 guests. This area is also lit by fairy lights creating a wonderful experience especially for a special occasion.

Dog Friendly

We do allow well behaved pets but please be aware that we are positioned on the High Street.

Disabled Facilities

1 en suite bedroom on ground floor with French doors opening onto the patio area, however our property is not especially disabled friendly.

WiFi

Free WiFi, there is also a land line at the property together with an honesty box as the mobile signal strength at the property is not brilliant.

Kitchen

A large kitchen fully equipped with an electric hob and oven, fridge freezer, microwave, dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer.

Dining Room

Positioned upstairs, seats 12 together with additional comfy seating, TV and log burning fire, it even has its own dumb waiter feed via the kitchen.

Sitting Room

Very large lounge with opulent chandeliers, a stylish cocktail bar, snooker table, open fire and additional comfy seating to watch the 75” TV.

TV and Music Facilities

75” plasma, DVD, Wii and Xbox games console in the lounge bar area, 2nd TV in the living/dining room, both have Sky HD movies and sports packages.

Games Room

Within the lounge bar area there is a snooker table, darts, Wii and Xbox console together with some games.

Heating and Open Fires

Gas central heating together with underfloor heating and two open fires, one in the lounge bar and the other in the dining/living room.

Bedrooms

5 double bedrooms, 2 en suite. 1 twin room. All tastefully decorated with beautiful period furniture to create a feeling of a by-gone age.

Linen

All linen and towels are provided, no toiletries are at the property so please remember to bring your own.

Bathrooms

2 en suite bathrooms, separate toilet, the main bathroom includes a shower, large Jacuzzi bath, toilet, bath and hand towels are provided.

Children's Facilities

There are two high chairs and a travel cot, a large enclosed garden; however please take care as our property is positioned on the High Street.

Outdoor

Large beautiful garden with patio and barbecue area.

Swimming Pool

There is no pool.

Parking

Parking for 2 cars, free car park opposite Two Brewers and next to library: small charge per day, free at weekends.

Smoking

Strictly no smoking inside the property - there are outside facilities for smoking.

Booking Information

Bank Holiday Weekends Extra £300.
10% to book, balance due 8 weeks before arrival, £250 security deposit required a week before arrival and provided no damage this will be returned within 14 days of departure. Hot tub can be rented including afernoon tea, min 10 guests from as little as £79 per person, spa treatment is extra but can be readily available.

Location

The Ongar Bell is located in a picturesque village with a great position on a busy High Street, however a short walk brings you into open countryside where you can enjoy walks for miles.

  • Buses stops on the High Street to Brentwood, Epping, Chelmsford or Harlow. Alternatively at the weekend there are vintage buses that link up to Epping station at the beginning of the Central Line.
  • We have a wonderful old steam railway in Ongar which links up to Epping and the Central Line into London (weekends only). Alternatively there is Brentwood that links up to Liverpool Street.
  • Brentwood is our nearest town, made famous by TOWIE and the Sugarhut nightclub, ideal for nightlife and shopping. Epping is our next closest town which has direct links on the Central Line to London.
  • We are surrounded by shops either fashion, homeware, antiques or eateries all within a short walk of our property.
  • We are a pub but if you want to venture out, there is the newly refurbished Kings Head a few doors away, great takeaways or dine at the Porterhouse or Mogal Indian all within walking distance.
  • Stansted is about 25 minutes away.
