Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
Orchard House, Wirksworth, Derbyshire, sleeps 12 in 5 bedrooms.
Country house sleeping up to 16 in 5 bedrooms, ideal for groups of families and friends, and hen parties.
Orchard House is a spacious country house hidden away in an acre of delightful secluded, tranquil, landscaped garden with an orchard. Located close to the centre of historic Georgian Wirksworth at the southern edge of the Peak District, this setting is perfect for relaxing, browsing, walking and cycling.
The large sitting room has Sky TV and an open fire, and there is a separate snug and reception room. Dining is in the Garden Room which has views across the garden and is adjacent to the spacious kitchen with range-style cooker and a wide range of kitchen appliances.
The two en suite double bedrooms have balconies overlooking the garden. The other three bedrooms (2 doubles and a twin) share a family bathroom and shower room. TVs and hair dryers are available.
The acre of landscaped garden is a major feature of this holiday home. Surrounded by trees, there are formal areas, wildflower meadow, an orchard, wildlife pond and 'boathouse', a formal dining area with barbecue, and a campfire area perfect for grilling sausages and toasting marshmallows. The many seats and benches throughout the garden offer different vistas and the opportunity for peaceful contemplation.
The beautiful historic town of Wirksworth is a quirky, eclectic mix of Georgian town houses in the centre and quarry workers cottages "up The Dale" and the Puzzle Gardens, surrounded by hills and open countryside. The town has a variety of pubs, cafes, restaurants, independent shops, and cinema only a few minutes away from Orchard House.
The historic church, St Mary's, has medieval carvings including the 'T'owd Man' and is 'Clypped' (a rare celebration!) each year in September. Links with past lead mining and quarrying have provided the backdrop to the landscape such as the community's Stoney Wood, Stardisc and Light Railway. The Heritage EVR runs trains at weekends with links to the mainline system.
From Orchard House it is also easy to access the Peak District landscape, caves, towns, and Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.
Changeover day is Friday.
