Palm Tree Retreat completed a complete refurbishment in May 2024 and is open to welcome large groups of friends, family or activity groups on an exclusive use self catering basis.
The location is majestic, high up in the hills among grazing sheep and eagles flying above, but just eight miles from the university and beach town of Aberystwyth. With no neighbours nearby, the party can go on all night, making this a great venue for groups of friends, family celebrations and hen and stag weekends. We are also happy to accommodate yoga retreats, biking groups (there are miles of the best mountain bike tracks in Wales on the doorstep) and scouts, and every group type in between, as well as corporate groups looking for a base for team building activities.
Everything about this bunkhouse is set up for a very large group. The catering kitchen has fridges, freezers and 10 commercial prep tables, 2 x 6 ring gas range cookers and a large pantry - all you need for catering. The dining room has 11 tables with new chairs to sit 87 people. The TV lounge has chill-out couches for relaxing on, and a bar table and barstools for catching up with friends.
Additionally there is a large games room, with a brand new table tennis table and full size air hockey table as well as a spinning bike.
The building is on 2 floors, both with ramp access. There are wheelchair accessible disabled toilet and shower facilities on both floors.
The building is surrounded by huge well maintained lawns to watch the sunset, chill or play games on.
The bedrooms are a mix of dorms with single beds and bunks, varying between sleeping 4 and 10, and there are also twin and triple rooms.
There are 3 wheelchair accessible WC and shower rooms, built to full wheelchair accessibility standards. Also 4 further WC and shower rooms.
Access is through the village of Penrhyn and up into the hills via a single track road. The last 1000m is a private road - farm track style - but still accessible even for large coaches. There is parking for several coaches or 15 cars.
