Penicuik Estate, located just 10 miles south of Edinburgh, offers easy access to the city while being surrounded by the tranquillity of nature and rich heritage. Built in 1760 and owned by the Clerk family for generations, Penicuik House is an iconic, grand, and eccentric property filled with art and furnishings from centuries of the family’s grand tours. It’s the perfect venue for multi-generational family holidays, special celebrations, weddings, corporate retreats, and activity breaks. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
Penicuik House features 11 elegant suites and 5 spacious en-suite double bedrooms, accommodating up to 32 overnight guests. Inside, the house boasts two grand reception rooms and a formal dining room, seating up to 48 guests. It also offers a wood-panelled bar with an open fire, and a luxurious cinema room with oversized sofas.
Outside, the Italian courtyard, gardens, and terraces provide a stylish backdrop for drinks receptions and al fresco dining. Penicuik House also has a sunken garden with a yoga studio for retreats, along with a wood-fired hot tub, sauna and cold plunge.Â
On-site activities include spa treatments, foraging, whisky tasting, and cycling on the estate’s 20km of trails. For larger private events, the exclusive High Pond Reserve provides a stunning setting for up to 120 guests in a Sperry Tent.
