Portland Outdoor Centre, Castletown, Isle of Portland, Dorset

Sleeps 15 - 60 13 Bedrooms 60 Dining

Outdoor centre on Portland sleeping 60 with activity packages and catering for youth and school group adventure residential trips

Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Portland Outdoor Centre, Castletown, Isle of Portland, Dorset, sleeps 15 - 60 in 13 bedrooms.

Portland Outdoor Centre on the Isle of Portland in Dorset is a school residential centre offering 3-5 day fully catered adventurous activity residentials.
Situated on the Jurassic Coast, which is given ‘world heritage site’ status, the environment on our doorstep is truly somewhere special.
We make the most of our landscape and all of our activities are off-site, but within walking distance of our building.
Chesil Beach (Site of Scientific Special Interest) is a 10 min walk from our front door. Portland Harbour is 50 metres away and the rest of the island is accessible by walking sections of the South West Coast path.
We offer fully catered bunk-room accommodation with food supplied directly from the Dorset Adventure Café. Our Café is part of our business and as our catering is ‘in-house’ we’re proud of the quality we offer. We have total control over what makes up your menu so there is no need to worry about allergies or any child not getting fed! An added bonus is we have quality coffee available for teachers too!
The core activities we offer as part of a x5 day outdoor residential are as follows:
– Coasteering – Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets on! Swimming, jumping, climbing, scrambling and floating – exploration of the shoreline at its best!
– Climbing, abseiling and weaseling – Our coastal crags mean you’re likely to see a pod of dolphins or find a fossilised ammonite as you’re looking out to sea or moving through a boulder beach
– Kayaking, Raft Building, BIG Canoeing, MEGA SUPing – From your bedroom windows you can see Portland Harbour 50m away. Here we have the opportunity to explore, get wet and generally have a lot of fun!
– Coastal Bushcraft – Seaweed foraging and bread-making. Fire lighting and marshmallow cooking, shelter building and beach survival. A perfect opportunity to learn a bit more about our environment too
We’re confident we can offer your students (and staff) a great week to remember.
