Portman House is a stunning example of Georgian architecture adapted to the 21st century traveller. As soon as you step foot inside of this stunning and imposing Georgian property you cannot fail to be impressed by the large floor to ceiling windows, the contrasting wood and stone floors, and the grand open fireplaces just begging to be lit. Sleeps 16, or 18 with Z beds.
The ground floor at Portman House consists of a large dining room able to seat 18, a very grand lounge with ample seating and topped off with an open fire and large TV to keep everyone entertained. A very convenient snug room complete with log burner is the last of the reception rooms before you head into the long airy kitchen and breakfasting room. There is a range cooker and a modern electric oven and hob for plenty of cooking space, and the 12 seater breakfasting table gives the room that sociable finish that's so often required in a celebration house of this size. Downstairs you will also find 3 of the 8 bedrooms, 2 twin rooms and 1Â double bedroom each with ensuite.
Stepping out onto the patio area from the snug, you instantly see Somerset at it's best. Looking out over the fields full of wheat, barley or maize, you can take a seat on the patio and drink in the views. There's plenty of space to dine outside, alfresco style, or you can simply make a quick dash for the hot tub, located to make the most of those charming views we've grown to love. A large garden perfect for relaxing or kicking a football around in surrounds the side and back of the house.
Making your way up the wide curving staircase you will find a further 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 en suite and 1 family bathroom). A mix of 3 double rooms and 2 twins makes up the bedroom layout with each room having its own individual design and style.
Finished off with a cellar complete with bar (unstocked) and karaoke machine, cinema room with projector/screen and a 7-seater sauna plus a large games room with pool, darts and table tennis, this house really does have it all.
