Staying at Ravenbridge Mill feels like stepping into a private world where nature and history come together effortlessly. Set within 21 acres of land, the house is surrounded by river, woodland and orchards and, at its heart, a beautiful lake that quickly becomes the focus of any stay here.

One of the most memorable features of Ravenbridge Mill is the wood-fired sauna which is hidden among the trees beside the lake. Spending time here is a simple pleasure that never gets old. Heat the sauna yourself, take in the scent of wood and steam, then step straight out into the open air for a plunge in the cold, clear lake. It's invigorating and deeply relaxing, whether you are brave enough to swim or just sit by the water afterwards wrapped in a towel.

The house itself is warm, welcoming and full of character, shaped by centuries of change. Thick stone walls, old beams and worn steps tell stories of its past as a working mill, while the spacious kitchen, cosy sitting room and generous bedrooms make it ideal for sharing with family and friends. Every window frames a view of trees, water or open sky, and there's a real sense of peace knowing there are no near neighbours.

Days drift easily here. You might start with coffee by the lake, wander along the beck, take a boat out on the water or explore the fells rising just beyond the garden. Evenings often end back at the sauna or around the fire pit, with laughter echoing across the courtyard and the lake quietly reflecting the stars. The studio is a great space for a game of pool or an indoor activity and the stone-balancing garden a focus for fun.

Ravenbridge Mill sits at the foot of Hartside Pass, a favourite with cyclists tackling the famous Coast to Coast climb. From the house you are straight onto the ascent, rising from 600ft to 1900ft. Walk, cycle or drive to the summit, where on clear days you can see Scotland and the full sweep of the Lakes across the Eden Valley. With the Pennines on one side and the Lake District on the other, you are perfectly placed for exploring walking trails, while shops and towns are all within easy reach including at Alston and Penrith.

## Booking Information

- A non-returnable deposit of 25% will secure your booking. The balance of 75% is due 6 weeks before arrival, after which it becomes non-returnable unless we secure a replacement booking.
- 
- A £200 bond should also be paid with the balance; it will be returned in full assuming there are no breakages, or additional cleaning.
- 
- The only further charge is for dogs; 2 well-behaved dogs are permitted per booking, for a charge of £20 per dog (dogs not allowed upstairs or in bedrooms, please).
- 
- Friday or Monday changeover. Bookings taken for 7 nights, 3 night weekends or 4 night midweeks.
