The ethos of Ringsfield is to enjoy and respect the individuality of each child and young person, foster the spirit of children and young people and create rich,learning experiences though nature connection.

There is a series of flexible outdoor activities for all key stages for groups to choose from, or groups are free to organise their own programme.

The warm, welcoming Victorian country house on the Norfolk/Suffolk border is set in 14 acres of meadow, woodland, pasture, garden and play areas, which offer opportunity for outdoor learning as well as freedom to explore, while being secure and contained.

There are some dormitories and a number of smaller rooms over 2 floors with 50 beds in all. Teachers and leaders accommodation in single use rooms. There is a self catering option but our catering provides home cooked, healthy meals using local, fair trade, non-GM foods when possible. Special diets can be accommodated with no difficulty.

We can tailor make programmes or there are 2,3,4 day programmes, featured on our web site. Teachers Packs and follow-up lesson plans available.

Sessions include:

Forest School and Bushcraft e.g. shelter building,fire craft, outdoor cooking, use of tools,whittling, tracking, foraging, cordage, basket making, furniture making,story, expedition, navigation and orienteering.Wild camp out possible.

Team building, cooperative games, negotiation.

Reflective and themed e.g. environmental art, mapping and orienteering, quiet spots, story-telling.

We work especially well with students in difficulty or those experiencing transitions.

Science & Geography topics,Sustainability e.g. energy use, waste, water, carbon footprint.

The centre is close to a wide variety of places to visit, museum, galleries, theatres and habitats nearby include nature reserves, bird sanctuaries, coastal areas, heaths, forest, broads and rivers. Details on request or from Tourist Information.

Facilities

Well equipped large catering kitchen, commercial cooker, fridge and freezer, microwave, all pots, pans and crockery for large groups.
Seats 50-55 in attractive conservatory.
Two pleasant sitting rooms, one with open fire and piano, and one with real fire effect gas heater, well stocked book shelves and views over woodland.
CD player, Wi-Fi. Digital projector on request.

Separate room overlooking pond, table tennis and table football. This room can be used as a meeting room/workshop. space - seats up to 100, heated.
Central heating throughout and open fire in one sitting room.
Sleeps 53. 1st floor sleeps 39: 2x 4 bunks + 2; 1x 4 bunks; 1x 2 bunks +1; 1 dble; 2 x twin. 2nd floor sleeps 14: 3x twin; 1x 3; 1x 2 + bunk, 1x dble.
Duvets and pillows provided, guests bring bedlinen and towels. Available at a small charge.
One shower and toilet downstairs. 1st floor: 2 b.rooms with 2 showers, 1 bath and 1 toilet; plus 2 toilets. 2nd floor bath and toilet.
Ground floor single room with shower room adjacent.
High chairs,travel cots, toys, games, books, art materials, balls, racquets, 14.5 acres safe grounds. Children's activities available.

No, but it is possible to book sessions at a private pool nearby; there is an open air pool in Beccles and a public pool in Bungay all within 3 miles.
Parking for 20 + cars, coach in winter, up to 50+ cars in summer.
No smoking in the buildings.

2 hours from the M25 junctions with A12 and M11. Cambridge 1.5 hrs, Norwich 30 mins. On Norfolk/Suffolk border near River Waveney -3 miles to Beccles.
Beccles 3 miles, Bungay 5 miles, Norwich 17 miles.
Market town with three large supermarkets, local shope e.g. butchers. Boots, variety of restaurants and bars.
Village pub 2 miles, lots of eating places in Beccles including riverside hotel- Waveney House, Takeaways aplenty.
