Rosemerryn, Lamorna, Penzance, Cornwall

Sleeps 2 - 13 6 Bedrooms 14 Dining

Spacious holiday house near Mousehole sleeping 13 with a games room for large family group stays near stunning beaches

Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Rosemerryn, Lamorna, Penzance, Cornwall, sleeps 2 - 13 in 6 bedrooms.

Rosemerryn House sleeps 13 + 3 roll-out beds

Set in 7 acres of private woodland, Rosemerryn is a former artist’s residence, built for Benjamin and Isabelle Leder at the turn of the 20th century.

Rosemerryn offers 6 spacious bedrooms (2 of which are en suite), a big farmhouse kitchen with a table large enough for 14 and an AGA and electric cooker and a large lounge which, having once been the artist's studio, is beautifully lit by a huge north-facing window. In addition, there is a charming conservatory - plenty of space for a big group to be together, but also to escape on your own. The house is reminiscent of a slower, more pensive way of life.

Outside is a beautiful, private garden, with a barbecue and chiminea for chillier evenings, and seating for al fresco dining together.

The games room, which is to one side of the garden, is equipped with an entertainment system and a table tennis table, but once the table is stowed away in the cupboard the room becomes a simple, clear space for workshops, such as Yoga or dance, or any group activity.

Beyond the garden is the Boleigh Fogou, a 2000 year old, man-made cave or temple, which was once part of an iron-age settlement; just one of numerous such Ancient Celtic Sites to be found in the far west of Cornwall. There are well worn paths to follow through the woods, many made by badgers and foxes, and one, trodden more by humans, which will direct you down through the valley to the local pub, the Lamorna Wink, or on to the Cove where there is a small café overlooking the harbour beach and the waves rolling in across the Atlantic.

Location

Rosemerryn is 20 mins walk from Lamorna Cove and the coast path. There is a small harbour beach at Lamorna and both beautiful sandy coves and big surfing beaches within a few miles.

  • There is a bus stop at the bottom of the wood for route 1 and 1A, running from Penzance to Lands End.
  • Penzance train station is 5 miles away. From here the Cornish Riviera night sleeper runs to and from London, throughout the year.
  • Penzance, with art galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants; Morrab sub-tropical gardens and Penlee Museum and art gallery, and the pub where Napoleon's victory at Waterloo was first announced.
  • St Buryan, 3 miles. An excellent, local independent shop selling everything from fresh baked croissants and local fresh meat to toilet rolls. Much of the fresh produce is local.
  • The newly refurbished pub the 'Lamorna Wink', is 15 minutes walk towards the cove, and serves good food as well as local ales, beers, wines and spirits.
  • Newquay airport is 50 miles away, 1 hour and 20 minutes by car. Planes fly to the Scilly Isles regularly through the summer from Lands End Airport, which is 10 minutes drive away.
