Roughs Farm is a great location for guests meeting up from different parts of the country with very close access to the A1, A14 and M11. It's a rural getaway, perfect for 3 generation families and friends reunions to gather for a special occasion or long weekend break in beautiful fenland countryside and close to interesting towns including Cambridge and Ely. Walkers and cyclists will appreciate the bridleways and pathways attached to Roughs Farm for walks from the door, with or without the dogs, which are also very welcome.
Hiring the 2 houses together means that Maid's Cottage can provide separate and more private accommodation for young families, couples or grandparents. Living areas in the Farmhouse are sociable with kitchen fully set up for the designated cook to prepare a meal for everyone while the others perch on the breakfast bar stools topping up the wine. The oak dining room table can seat 10 and an additional table will cater for extra guests staying in the cottage. The sitting room is elegant with attractive sofas, a wood stove and French doors to the patio. Maid's Cottage has an attractive open plan living design also with access to outside.
The Farmhouse has a large accessible patio area with a hot tub for 8, dining area and a barbecue. Maid's Cottage also has an enclosed seating area with a 3 seater hot tub. The gardens are interlinked, so if both properties are hired together this area provide an excellent spot for a communal barbecue.
Bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable. The ground floor double in the Farmhouse works well for anyone who can't manage the stairs.
Sawtry is a pretty little village; take a stroll from Roughs Farm to pick up supplies at the shop, grab a takeaway or to pop for a pint at the Greystones. Huntingdon is nearby, the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. Cambridge is not to be missed for its wonderful historic attractions including the Fitzwilliam Museum and King's College Chapel. Opt for a punt on the River Cam or immerse yourselves in the festival atmosphere of outside performances and touring West End shows.
