Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
Safestay York, Yorkshire, sleeps 2-100 in 21 bedrooms.
Safestay York, the second hostel launched by the award-winning luxury hostel brand Safestay, embodies the spirit of the great historical city it stands in. Like York itself, the hostel is an interesting mix of tradition and modernity.
Safestay York is located in the eminent Grade One listed Georgian Micklegate House, originally the town house of the prominent Bourchiers of Beningbrough, and considered today to be the most important Georgian residence south west of the River Ouse.
The sensitive refurbishment pays homage to the building’s grand historical past, while the luxury interiors are contemporary. The choice of whimsical furnishings and vibrant hues complement and accentuate the original features of the building, which include a Rococo ceiling and ornate Georgian fireplaces. There is also an original 18th century stone-flagged entrance hall and a staircase with superb carved balusters sweeping in front of a magnificent arched window.
The designers have brought an element of fantasy and humour to the hostel, playing with scale through the use of oversized armchairs and small tables. Visitors could be forgiven for feeling like Alice in Wonderland as they walk past a Stags head (‘Mr Waldorf’), 18th century chandeliers, Jeeves bowler and top hat pendants and lamps, and bespoke light fittings framed by cutlery; these accompany more classical pieces such as a chesterfield sofa and a church pew.
Safestay York is designed to appeal to business and leisure travellers, as well as school groups and families. Its prime central location means that Safestay provides the ideal base for exploring this great historical English city and its rich Roman, Viking and Medieval heritage. There is a wealth of attractions from the iconic York Minster, the National Railway Museum, Castle Museum and Cliffords Tower, as well as a vibrant University social scene.
Safestay York features 4 to 12- bedded bunk dorms with en suite facilities, twin bunk bed private rooms with tea & coffee making facilities and 40-inch TVs, as well as double rooms with ornate antique 19th century beds.
The rooms feature lockers to secure luggage and personal items with entry by touch key.
£250.00 security deposit for groups over 10, £500.00 security deposit for stag or hen groups. From £18 per person per night.
