Most of the year Shallowford House is used extensively for Christian Retreats and Conferences for both residential and day guests. We are also available to self catering guests who are looking for something more relaxed and less structured, with sole use of the house and grounds for the duration of your stay.

The house is well presented and offers comfortable surroundings, and can sleep up to 41 people in 25 rooms with a mix of single, twin and double rooms. There are 4 bedrooms on the ground floor and 2 of these rooms are accessible for wheelchair users. Upstairs there are a further 21 bedrooms of which 20 have ensuite facilities, and one has its own shower and toilet just across the narrow hall. We do permit guests to bring additional camp beds and bedding if necessary to increase the occupancy.

Free WiFi is available in all parts of the house.

Set in 9 acres of grounds there is a balanced mix of formal gardens, meadows and a small nature reserve which is home to some rare and protected species. We have a collection of animals including chickens, alpacas and goats. There are 3 summer houses around the grounds, 2 of which have electricity making them usable all year round. Close to the house is a fire pit with fixed seating; this is a popular spot and the ideal place to enjoy a barbecue - a large gas barbecue is available to hire for your use.

Our own private car parks can hold 40 cars.

On-site activities can be bought in at an extra cost and include archery.

The group leader will be met on the day of arrival and shown how everything works so as to make the most of the facilities. You will also be given the mobile number of the duty manager who will be available to help you with any queries that may arise.

Guests are responsible for cleaning all public areas before departure, but can choose to prebook cleaning services.

Dog Friendly

Responsible pet owners, proof of vaccinations and flea treatment is required in advance of your stay. Charge for extra cleaning.

Accessibility

On the ground floor are 2 bedrooms, both with en suite accessible toilet and shower rooms. Two of the largest meetings spaces have a hearing loop.

WiFi

Fixed line telephone is available, calls are charged separately. Free WiFi is available in all parts of the house.

Kitchen

Fully equipped commercial kitchen with ample storage, preparation areas, easy to use appliances and commercial dishwasher.

Dining Room

Seats everyone together, leaving you to decide how you want to serve and present your meals.

Sitting Room

With an open fire and comfortable furniture, this is the perfect room to unwind and relax.

TV and Music Facilities

Large screen TV with freeview. Super quality fixed data projector and screen with separate speakers, making for a great cinema experience for all.

Games Room

Croquet, Archery, Putting and a selection of board games.

Heating and Open Fires

The house is centrally heated by our biomass boiler and there is an open fire in the sitting room.

Bedrooms

25 bedrooms, 24 of which are en suite. 4 rooms on the ground floor of which 2 are accessible for wheelchair users. Platform lift also available.

Linen

Bed linen for up to 41 people is available at prices from £10 per set .Towels can also be hired separately at £2.50 per set (hand & bath towel).

Bathrooms

23 rooms have an ensuite toilet and shower room, 1 room has ensuite toilet with bath. 1 room has it's own private shower and toilet room opposite.

Outdoor

9 acres of grounds, consisting of formal areas, meadows and nature reserve. Fire pit and barbecue area with 1 gas BBQ (extra charge). Various animals.

Private parking for up to 40 cars.

No smoking in the house or other covered areas, ashtrays are available to keep the outside areas litter free.

Prices includes VAT. Payment in full in advance. Min booking 2 nights. Arrivals from 4pm. Checkout time by arrangement. Dogs permitted by agreement. No smoking. Self-catering terms and conditions must be followed. Prebooked cleaning charge at £275.
