Stationmaster’s Lodge is a grand highland house with stunning lochside views of Loch Carron. Our large holiday house sleeps up to 18 in comfort and is a great base for exploring the west coast, Plockton and Eilean Donan Castle and nearby Isle of Skye.

Located in the stunning wee highland village of Stromeferry amongst spectacular west coast scenery, the Stationmaster’s Lodge is ideal for large groups, family gatherings and groups of friends. With amazing loch views, plenty of space and great facilities including a cosy wood burning stove, it's pet friendly too!

Formerly the Stationmasters House, the house is packed full of character and history. Spread over three levels, there are eight bedrooms, half of them en suite, many with loch views. The large lochside lounge has a cosy log-burner, and a huge dining table which sits 18 and converts into a pool table. The kitchen has a large 6 burner gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and a large fridge.

The Lodge is heated by a powerful wood pellet heating system and is always warm and cosy. It’s the perfect base for a relaxing holiday for groups on the west coast amongst wonderful highland scenery.

The local area is home to wide range of wildlife, and otters are spotted regularly from the Lodge on the shoreline - look out for them from the house at dawn and dusk. The Lodge is an excellent base for discovering this wild and unspoiled area, steeped in history.

Stationmaster's Lodge is popular with a wide range of groups including walkers, paddlers and traditional musicians, who use the lounge for practice. Its a great base for exploring nearby Isle of Skye and many local attractions are nearby. You can also arrive by train from Inverness (Stromeferry Station).

This is a wonderful corner of the West Highlands, where a remote and dramatic landscape meets the sea. It’s feels remote and off the beaten track, and yet is easily accessible from the main road to Skye. Its lochside location is magical and a perfect base for groups looking for a highland holiday lodge.

TV and Music Facilities

36 inch TV for playing DVDs (a selection also provided), Bluetooth music speaker and acoustic guitar available.

Heating and Open Fires

Large log burning stove in lounge. The house is heated by a 26 kilowatt wood pellet boiler so its nice and toasty. Lots of hot water - 330 litre tank.

Bedrooms

3 doubles (2 can be twins instead), 2 twins, 1 sets of bunks, 2 family rooms (double and single, or one room can be 3 singles). 3 are en suite.

Linen

All bedlinen and towels provided as part of the rental.

Bathrooms

3 bedrooms are en suite. Plus shower room on the first floor

Children's Facilities

Pool table and table tennis. Board games, guitar, TV with DVD player and a selection of children's DVD films.

Outdoor

Lochside garden with patio terrace, table and benches with loch views and charcoal barbecue.

Swimming Pool

Swimming in the loch is possible from the ramp close to the house. Children must be supervised at all times.

Parking

Free parking adjacent to the house is available.

Smoking

No smoking within the house. Please use the garden terrace/patio area.

Booking Information

Changeover days are flexible. Booking cancellation fee is 50% within one week of booking start date. We have a damage deposit of £300.

Location

Located in the small village of Stromeferry at the bottom of the hill overlooking the old ferry slipway and close to Stromeferry Railway station. West Highland setting close to the Isle of Skye.

  • There are buses to Kyle of Lochalsh from Inverness, Fort William, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The nearest bus stop is in Auchtertyre 10 mins drive away.
  • Stromeferry Station (next to the house). The train from Inverness continues through to Kyle of Lochalsh. There are 3 trains in each direction everyday. Inverness 2 hrs, Kyle 25 mins.
  • Kyle of Lochalsh (12 miles -20 mins drive).
  • Plockton (7 miles) or Kyle of Lochalsh (12 miles).
  • Inverness Airport 75 miles (1 hour 40 mins).
