With direct access to Wainwright’s ‘Pennine Journey’ long distance footpath, and only a short walk from Cautley Spout Waterfall, Stayhowgills is a great choice for families and friends getting together for a countryside break, outdoor activity weekend or to celebrate a big birthday or other event. A Bothy sleeps a further 2 guests if taken with the barn - only available separately if the barn is not in use. Modern open plan living on the ground floor offers a great kitchen and dining tables seating up to 16 for a sociable dinner before retiring to the relaxed sofas next to the wood burning stove and large TV. The bunkhouse benefits from underfloor heating too, good to come back to after a day on the fells. A handy utility area with washing machine and dryer makes sense for sorting out wet gear from a day's hiking. If the weather is good, make the most of the spectacular Cumbrian views by settling down on the patio for a barbecue and drinks, warming up next to the firepit and enjoying a spot of stargazing. The bedrooms in the bunkhouse are set up as 2 doubles and 2 dorm style rooms, sleeping a total of 14. The dorms are ideal for families, or for the youngsters in the group to bunk down together, and the doubles for couples or grandparents looking for a little more privacy. 2 shared bathrooms and a ground floor wet room mean plenty of options for a piping hot shower at the end of the day. Ravenstonedale is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, well worth a visit for immersing yourselves in the glorious countryside and also to sample the 2 pubs serving food. Kirkby Stephen is a pretty town with cobbled streets and a monthly farmers market. Sedbergh in the opposite direction is known for its heritage as well as some of the best cycling and walking trails. If guests wish to venture further afield, the Lake District National Park can be reached in under 40 minutes for more walking, cycling and watersports opportunities.
