Our traditional handcrafted Mongolian yurts provide luxury glamping in the heart of the English countryside on the Suffolk/Essex border. Just over 1 hour from London. Set in 9 acres of beautiful private grounds, overlooking a small well stocked lake. (Sorry no fishing). Guests are spoilt for choice with the extensive rural views and wildlife to enjoy. See bats, foxes and even badgers. For complete authenticity there is no electric in the yurts. But lots of places to charge mobiles so don't panic, and there's free WiFi too.

Perfect for friends, hen groups, family groups, or couples looking for a romantic break. All yurts are well equipped and all bedding is provided. Each has a log burning stove & gas BBQ (wood & gas provided). Option to add use of our outdoor hot tub.

Opposite the yurts is a luxury toilet and shower block. With separate male and female facilities & plenty of hot water. Towels are not provided but can be hired.

Guests can enjoy complimentary use of the fully equipped indoor games room. Outside play giant chess
or choose from a range of garden games.

Guests can also enjoy use of a large lounge area, adjacent to the games room. Relax have a drink, or watch a film.

We can provide on site activity packages such as 'It's A Knockout', archery, an assault course or even afternoon tea. There's something on offer for every member of the group without leaving the site, but if you do want to venture out, the local pub, is only a 15 minute walk from Suffolk Retreats, serving great food and top class ales.

Visitors wishing to explore the surrounding area will enjoy Clare, the smallest town in Suffolk with the Priory, Country Park, and walks. Cavendish has plenty of antique shops, designer boutiques and popular pubs. Kentwell Hall and the National Trust's Melford Hall are a 20 minute drive from Suffolk Retreats too.

Slightly further afield is Bury St Edmunds with its extensive shopping area, Abbey & gardens.Take a trip to the famous Newmarket Racecourse, or visit the university city of Cambridge, maybe try a punt on the River Cam.

WiFi

Free WiFi is available throughout the property although reception can be intermittent at times.

Kitchen

Each yurt has a wood burning stove with built in cooker. Selection of cooking utensils and crockery. Use of gas barbecue for al fresco dining.

Dining Room

Indoor and outdoor dining table and chairs for all guests. Cook a BBQ and sit on benches overlooking the well stocked lake. Watch bats, owls and foxes

Sitting Room

The larger yurts have day beds that can be used for relaxation but the sitting area next to the games room is available for all yurt guests with TV.

TV and Music Facilities

There is a large TV in the games area and blue tooth speakers too.

Games Room

The games room includes air hockey, table football, table tennis, darts and pool. Outside guests can play giant chess, croquet and rounders.

Heating and Open Fires

Yurts have log burning stoves. All wood is available free of charge. Can be used to heat the yurt and to cook a range of foods. BBQ also included.

Bedrooms

2 larger yurts each sleep 5 in 1 double and 3 singles. or can be used a 1 double and 1 x king sized. Small yurt has 1 double bed. Clothes space.

Linen

Fresh bed linen is included but guests are asked to provide their own towels. If booking hot tub, luxury towels are provided.

Children's Facilities

Children will love our 3 miniature horses & 5 fallow deer, and peacock. Children will need to be supervised at all times as deep water in the lake.

Outdoor

9 acres of grounds. Gas BBQ. Option to add hot tub. Option to hire assault course, archery, bouncy castle or book afternoon tea.

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool.

Parking

Plenty of off road secure parking for all guests. FREE.

Smoking

No smoking in allowed in yurts or indoor areas.

Booking Information

25% deposit to secure your booking. Balance due 10 weeks before arrival.
We accept all major credit cards including AMEX.
Minimum stay 2 nights, except Bank Holidays when minimum stay is 3 nights.
Arrival any time after 3pm. Departure by 10am.
No pets.

Location

A quiet rural location, just over an hour from central London. A great base from which to explore Suffolk.10-15 minutes walk from Clare. 40 minutes from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.

We are in a rural location and not on any main bus routes. You can however pick up a bus from Keddington, approximately 5 minutes drive away. This will take you to Cambridge.
Our nearest station is Audley End (30 mins by car). Cambridge main line is approximately 40 minutes by car. Local taxi services can provide mini buses pick ups for race days etc, if required.
The historical town of Clare is just 5 minutes drive, with local shops, tea rooms and antique shops. Haverhill,10 minutes away has all the main stores.The market town of Bury St Edmunds 40 minutes.
There is a local village store / postoffice a few minutes away. Clare has tea shops but more extensive shopping and major supermarkets can be found in Haverhill, 10 minutes away.
The Plough Inn pub has quality food at good prices & is just a few minutes drive or 10-15mins walk away. There are also many fine restaurants in the nearby towns of Clare, Long Melford and Cavendish.
Stansted Airport is just 45 minutes from the property.
