Exclusive use of our beautiful Georgian Manor House right in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park means you will feel as if you are in your own country house and can enjoy your time with family, friends or work colleagues.

Tall John's House provides a team of staff to look after you but they are not intrusive. They are on hand if you need them but otherwise you are left to enjoy your manor house experience.

The house stands in its own grounds and looks across its land to the Black Mountains - Llangorse Lake is a short walk away. The area is simply wonderful! No noise or light pollution, so you will see the stars (if the weather is kind) and Breconshire is listed as one of the safest places in the UK.

The generous bedrooms are divided between the main house and the old stables just a few steps across the lawn. There are 7 double bedrooms (2 are zip and link so can be divided to make twins) and 4 single bedrooms. All bedrooms have their own bath or shower rooms.

There is a billiard table in the library in the main house and also a table tennis table, sauna and small fitness room in a separate building.

A super breakfast is included in your rental but our housekeeper/cook team are delighted to offer you any other meals you would like. This arrangement gives you the flexibility to eat out locally in the good variety of pubs and restaurants nearby or enjoy an evening in looked after by our team. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol and we do not charge corkage.

We can also offer you a fantastic barn for bigger parties, weddings or yoga, pilates or indoor activities - please let us know if this is of interest to you.

As so many people come to enjoy the splendid countryside we are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs!

There are so many things to do in the area - the walking is as good as anywhere in the UK but there are lots of places to visit and activities to enjoy within easy reach as well.


Our friendly cook and his wife will serve you a delicious breakfast each morning at a time of your choosing and can provide other meals on request.
This is an elegant room with an Adams ceiling. It is perfect for 16 guests but can seat 18 with a squeeze. A wonderful place for a celebration dinner.
The large drawing room with a log fire opens onto our billiard room/library so you can enjoy a game of snooker without leaving the party.
In our snug there is a cosy coal fire and Sky television, Sky sports, DVD and a selection of films.
Free WiFi is available throughout the property. There is good mobile reception. Our office has printing and scanning facilities.
The billiard table and dartboard are in the library. In a separate building there is a table tennis table, sauna and small fitness room.
There is a wood burner in the entrance hall, a log fire in the drawing room and the snug has a coal fire. Oil fired central heating throughout.
In the main house - 2 super kings (zip/link), 1 king, 1 double, 1 single. In the stables 3 doubles, 3 singles. All have their own bath/shower rooms.
All beds are made up with sheets, duvets, bath towels, hand towels and flannels. Each room has soaps, shampoos and hair dryers.
10 of the 11 bathrooms are en suite. Five have only walk in showers, five have showers over the bath and one has both walk in shower and bath.
We can offer 2 single bedrooms that are on the ground floor in the stable wing. In the main house there is a loo on the ground floor.
Huge safe garden for the children and lots of activities in the area. We can offer babysitting on request and there is a cot and high chair.
Our garden and grounds are perfect for treasure hunts and Easter Egg hunts! Croquet and badminton are available and we can graze ponies.
There is no swimming pool.
Plenty of parking available.
Only outside please.
Well behaved dogs only please! Not on the furniture and not upstairs and please pick up after them! We live in a sheep area so please respect this.


In the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, looking over at the Black Mountains. Walking distance from Llangorse Lake. No traffic noise, no light pollution.
Crickhowell with its shops, pubs, chemist and doctors' surgery is 5 miles away and Brecon, which is larger, is 6 miles away. Our little village of Bwlch (on the A40) is 1.5 miles and has a shop.
In Bwlch there is a good paper/grocery shop. This is 1.5 miles away.
There is a pub/eatery in Bwlch (1.5 miles) but we recommend Llangorse for The Castle which is 2.5 miles away.

Booking Information

We accept 1 night bookings at £1500; 2nd night is £900. Refundable damage deposit of £500.
To confirm your booking, payment of 50% is required immediately. Balance due 2 months before arrival + damage deposit. Check in 15.00 : checkout 11.00.
Other meals approx £20pp for 2 courses, £30 for 3.

Abergavenny is 25 minutes away. Change at Newport for direct lines to London (1 hour 40 minutes).
Brecon has a bus station that takes you all over the National Park and down to Cardiff.
Cardiff Airport is 1 hour away.
