Belper is just a short drive away and sits within the beautiful Derwent valley Mills UNESCO World heritage site. Belper offers a good mix of independent shops, cafes, pubs and green spaces. The town has a strong arts and music scene hosting an annual arts festival each May, seasonal food festivals and farmers markets. Nearby Wirksworth is also worth a visit. Known for its historic streets and well regarded art and architechture trail, alongside an annual arts festival in September. For classic peak District scenery, Matlock and Matlock Bath are 11 miles away. Set within a wooded gorge along the river Derwent, they offer riverside walks, independent shops and cafes, and family friendly attractions. The Heights of Abraham, reached by cable car, provides panoramic views across the valley as well as a thrilling ride. A great family activity with lots to explore when you reach the top.
