This small Edwardian country holiday house in the Borrowdale Valley is a great base for exploring the Lake District National Park. Set in an acre of grounds and gardens, it's a 10 minute walk through Manesty Woods to the shores of beautiful Derwentwater with many other trails nearby over the Catbells Fell for keen hikers.
The welcoming wood paneled hallway is a reminder of the Edwardian history of the house. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing food and the breakfast room table ideal for informal meals, a cosy room with a multifuel stove. The library and formal dining room for 9 is a wonderful setting for dinner with fantastic views of the garden and beyond. The dual aspect drawing room is the ideal place to relax on leather sofas after dinner with the wood burner roaring, watching a film or chatting over drinks. The Coppice is ideal for holidays with extended family or for couples and friends getting together for a reunion or big birthday. Dogs are welcome too.
There are 4 bedrooms upstairs, 2 doubles, a twin and a triple room which works well for the youngsters. These thoughtfully decorated rooms have tasteful soft furnishings and wonderful views. One of the larger rooms has a seating area next to the window, an excellent spot for morning coffee or a good book. There's an en suite shower room for one bedroom and a shared family bathroom with an enamelled steel bath complete with claw and ball feet - great for a soak after a day out walking the hills.
There are a number of family friendly attractions within easy reach of The Coppice including the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction at Bowness-on-Windermere, just under an hour away. Hire a boat at Derwentwater Marina, and potter on the water surrounded by the hills of Skiddaw, Catbells and Borrowdale - an opportunity to discover hidden coves and look out for indigenous wildlife including deer and red squirrels. Keswick is an interesting town with independent shops and cafes. For the more energetic try out the mountain bike trails at Whinlatter Forest.
