We offer serviced and catered facilities - there is no self-catering option - or take over this 17th century inn for a private house party, with exclusive use of the restaurant and lounge. Private use of the bar area is available at a surcharge. Minimum of 8 bedrooms to be taken for exclusive use by a group. Choose The Fat Lamb for your party booking and avoid the headache of arranging your own food and drink, as well as the cooking and washing up. Breakfast is provided daily, and our experienced team of chefs will cater for you each evening. Enjoy a wide choice of dining options: hot or cold buffets, 2 or 3 course menus, a curry night or Italian evening - or whatever takes your fancy – we welcome a challenge. A fully stocked and manned bar is provided – pulling your own pint can be accommodated, and you can choose your own real ale. With 12 modern en suite bedrooms, our combination of doubles, twins and family rooms offers flexibility for up to 26 for adult only groups (32 for family groups with children). The Fat Lamb is well known for hosting Classic Car and Motorcycle clubs and the characterful bar is full of motoring and other memorabilia. There's a large garden with outside dining, and a private nature reserve set in flower rich meadows, with a rich variety of wildlife. Dogs are welcome and can be exercised in the large pasture, although they must be kept under control and are not allowed into the nature reserve. Excellent walking from the door, with the Pennine Bridleway ascending Wild Boar Fell to the south, and behind us the rolling hills of the Howgill Fells, Alfred Wainwrights “Sleeping Elephants”. Further afield, head to the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales – or avoid the crowds at Weardale, Teesdale and the spectacular High Pennines. We can suggest routes to take you off the beaten track.
