The house is located just 40 minutes south of the golden D-day beaches and ferry, and also near Bayeux where you can view the famous tapestry of the same name. This area is known as Swiss Normandy (so named for its similarity to Switzerland), and has a landscape of rolling hills and striking cliff faces, unique in northern France. A mile from the house you will find the pretty town of Clecy with its traditional boulangerie, patisserie and numerous cafe bars. Pause in the historic square and enjoy a drink or coffee in the sunshine. A range of shops in Clecy sell unique and vintage items.
Just outside Clecy is a majestic viaduct spanning the river Orne, with more bars and restaurants lining the rivers' edge. You can sign up for watersports including kayaking, or even something more adventurous such as paragliding, or try the 'Via Ferrata', a rock climbing adventure which ends with a thrilling zip wire down to the bottom (for the very brave). There are also many wonderful cycling and hiking trails locally.
