The Old Barn Ashbourne is a lovely family holiday house located on the edge of the Peak District National Park with amazing cycling and walking trails close by as well as excellent road transport links for those travelling. This renovated traditional stone hay barn has retained lovely period features including original beams and vaulted ceilings but promises a warm, comfortable and homely stay with every modern convenience.
The kitchen is a great space and appliances include a large range cooker and a dishwasher, perfect for cooking together before sitting down at the dining table for 14 to catch up with your group over a long dinner. The cosy lounge has plenty of relaxed seating, a TV and wood burner, ideal for an after dinner coffee and board games. There is outside furniture for barbecues and al fresco dining, or just relax and take in the beautiful scenery and rural location. Children will have lots of space to play games and let off steam but not in the yard please. Unfortunately the owners are unable to accept dogs.
The 6 stylish and individually designed bedrooms are set up as kings, twins or a double and the family room on the 1st floor has a double and 2 singles. 4 of the bedrooms are ground floor, useful for any guests who are less mobile. There are contemporary en suites in each room plus a ground floor WC.
The Old Barn Ashbourne benefits from a wonderful location close to the Manifold and Tissington cycling routes and only a short drive from Ashbourne where visitors can have a wander around quaint cobbled streets. Family days out can be enjoyed at Alton Towers, a 20 minute drive away and very popular with all ages. It's possible to walk to Dovedale from the Barn using the network of public footpaths on the doorstep. Swinscoe village pub is within walking distance from the house too, for a lunchtime drink and good food. Further afield, but a possibility for a day trip, is the city of Nottingham, with a fantastic castle and the challenge of exploring the Caves of Nottingham - not for the faint hearted.
