The Star sleeps 16 in 7 bedrooms
The Star is a 14th century pub wonderfully restored to create a great family holiday house full of character and charm, combining original feature beams and an inglenook with modern living and contemporary facilities. The kitchen comes well equipped for cooking group meals and includes a large 8 ring hob, 3 oven cooker, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. Sit down to eat together in the kitchen diner or, if the weather is good, outside in the courtyard or on the lawn. The sitting room is in two parts, separated by a traditional inglenook fireplace, where you can have an open fire, with low ceiling beams, cosy and comfy with plenty of sofas and rugs, ideal for family board games or watching a film together.
The bedrooms are flexible and include a family room for 4. They are all pleasant spaces with garden views and attractive soft furnishings. There are 6 en suite shower rooms. The utility room has washing machines and dryers.
The enclosed garden is a good space for exercising dogs safely and for the children to play games. The Star is in a residential area, so please respect the neighbours, with no outside noise after 11pm.
Lydd is a great location for getting together with family, friends and couples for a break away or to celebrate a milestone anniversary or big birthday. Only 2 hours from London and close to the Eurotunnel and Kent coast, it's a popular choice for those travelling to France as well as keen walkers wanting to enjoy the beautiful Kent countryside with their 4 legged friends. The local nature reserves and RSPB centre attracts many bird watchers.
Lydd itself is a pretty little town, with charming old streets and a big hearted welcome from locals. The 007 Magazine and Archive is open each afternoon for James Bond enthusiasts, or head to the Lydd Museum. Romney Marsh is a haven for hikers and cyclists, with a wealth of indigenous marshland wildlife and an interesting visitor centre. Fantastic beaches including Camber Sands, Dungeness and Folkstone are within easy reach for a family day out.
Workshops are also held at The Star, with a focus on choral and instrumental music. Do get in touch for more details.
