Thornbridge Lodge is a lovely quaint holiday cottage near Bakewell, on the outskirts of the village of Great Longstone, sleeping up to 10 guests. The property has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms; 3 of the bedrooms are located in the main lodge (2 fixed doubles and 1 bedroom with the flexibility being made up as twins or a double), the fourth bedroom is located in Manor Cottage next door and has a king size bed. There are also 2 sofa beds in the downstairs living area of the cottage which can be used as an additional bedroom. Please note that the cottage next to the lodge has external access across the cobbled courtyard.
Thornbridge Lodge has a wonderful, light and airy living area with plenty of soft seating. A large fireplace with a log burner is the focal point of the room and perfect for cosy evenings relaxing after exploring the many sights of the Peak District. In the summer months the patio doors can be opened to enjoy the views out onto the garden.
The Lodge has a well equipped open plan kitchen with everything you would need for a self-catering holiday. To one end of the kitchen is the dining table with built-in seating and chairs for up to 10 guests. Small additional kitchen in the cottage next door.
Outside to the front of the property is a walled cobbled courtyard with outdoor furniture and BBQ; this area is a sun trap and a great spot to enjoy some alfresco dining and drinks in the summer months. There is also a nice flat lawn, perfect for children to enjoy.
The location of property is second to none: the Monsal Trail runs right next to the property (access onto the trail is just opposite the property across the lane). The converted railway track with its tunnels and beautiful scenery runs from Bakewell to Blackwell Mill, near Buxton, and offers 8.5 miles of traffic free walking and cycling. As the trail is relatively flat it is great for people of all abilities and also pushchairs or prams. The village of Great Longstone with its lovely pubs and shop is within walking distance of the house and the bustling market town of Bakewell is only 5 minute drive away. The stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are also only 10 minutes' drive away.
