Thurston Outdoor Education Centre, Coniston, Cumbria, sleeps 12-56 in 10 bedrooms.

Thurston is a large Victorian country house offering excellent, quality group accommodation. Set in its own large grounds in the heart of the Lake District National Park and overlooking Coniston Water. It has stunning views of the surrounding fells with immediate access to mountains, forests, lakes and rivers. Making it an ideal lakeland base.

The house is group friendly having a large lounge, dining room and barn/games room. Open all year round. Centrally heated, spacious and clean.

A million pound refurbishment recently upgraded all facilities with the help of the National Lottery.

Please note we do not accept bookings from Stag or Hen parties

Totally refurbished the spacious kitchen has commercial ovens, commercial dish washer, refrigerators and large work surfaces.
Large flexible area seating over 40 with stunning lake views.
Large comfortable area overlooking the lake and Coniston Old Man. Satellite TV with DVD player.
DVD connected to TV. (Large Barn with snooker, air hockey and table tennis).
Limited mobile reception. WiFi (BT Openzone/pay as you go)
Large old barn area with table tennis, snooker, table football and air hockey tables.
Central Heating in main house / Wood burner in barn.
10 bedrooms. 3 en-suite twins. 1 en-suite single. 6 dormitory type rooms sleeping 6 to 12 people.
All bedding provided.
4 en-suites with showers. A large under floor heated changing area facility including 10 cubicle showers with drying room in basement.

Large barn / games room. Outdoor activities on request. Qualified instruction. AALS licensed and AHOEC Gold Standard quality.
Large private grounds with lawn and pedestrian access to the lake.
We do not have a pool, but Lake Coniston is at the bottom of the garden.
2 car parking areas. (20 cars).
Smoking is not permitted.
We do not accommodate pets.

Booking Information

Standard Rate: £750 + VAT = £900 per night (Note VAT exempt organisations such as schools and educational charities will not be charged VAT)
Bank Holiday Weekend Rates: £800 + VAT = £960 per night.

Flexible on change over days depending on other bookings.
