The Towers, Conwy, North Wales, sleeps 10-25 in 12 bedrooms.
The Towers is a substantial harbour master's mansion (for a harbour that was never made), and was built by the Victorian industrialist, entrepreneur and MP John Platt in 1872. The building covers 7000 square feet, in a Gothic château style, it has been refurbished to an excellent standard.
Located 25 yards from the beach, this detached property has flexible accommodation including a fine cinema room with a beautiful hand painted domed ceiling, dining room with seating for 20 people, beach/morning room, library/games room. There is also a large well-equipped kitchen with breakfast room, ten bedrooms and further accommodation in the housekeepers cottage.
Of particular note is the view from the lantern tower, looking across the Menai straits to the Isle of Anglesey and Puffin Island.
The lawned garden has an attractive ornamental pond with a Japanese three-tier fountain surrounded by a 9-hole putting green. The property and gardens are secluded providing a relaxing oasis for guests in a private space not overlooked. The driveway extends to the rear of the property where there is a further garden area and private parking for 10 vehicles.
The walled town of Conwy lies close by. We are on the north coast of Snowdonia with easy access to the walking and climbing. The house sits on the Wales coastal path. The adrenaline attractions of ZipWire, Surf Snowdonia and fast rib rides down the Menai straits are all within easy reach.
