The property is situated between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and The Lake District National Park, approximately three miles from the small market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, about sixteen miles from Kendal and about twenty miles from Lancaster. It is to the east of the M6 motorway, easily accessible from exits 34-37. The north wing of Whelprigg, previously the staff wing of the main house, has a warm and welcoming country house style, and is attractively furnished with antique furniture. The kitchen is well equipped to deal with the requirements of a large group, with a separate larder for supplies. The sitting room has comfortable sofas for relaxation, and the dining room is an elegant setting for a special dinner, with plenty of space for a large group. For private lunches or dinners, the main part of the house can be available by separate arrangement with the owner. There could also be special arrangements made for small wedding receptions, either in the walled garden or elsewhere on the property. The gardens are extensive and well-maintained, with spectacular views across open country. There are many houses, gardens and tourist attractions within forty five minutes drive and, in the local villages and market towns, a wide selection of pubs and restaurants, as well as good shopping.
