The Wilderness Centre is an outdoor education residential and day facility offering on-site and off-site activities to encourage and build confidence. Set on the edge of the Forest of Dean on top of Plump Hill, the views are spectacular! This is a stunning location with fields, forest and wildlife all around.
We offer facilities for mixed groups and/or exclusive hire. Boy/girl groups can be separated. We offer 10 bedroomed spacious dormitory style bunk beds, rooms sleeping from 2 to 8 people. Bottom sheets and pillows provided. Camping available. 7 bedrooms for children/young adults; 3 dedicated bedrooms for staff/leaders. There are separate boys/girls shower blocks, & staff/leader accommodation with separate shower/ toilet block.
Catering, where required, is prepared on site by our talented kitchen team using local produce and the finest ingredients. We pride ourselves on our tasty, home cooked meals! Fully catered, self-catered and accommodation only options available. Allergies and special dietary requirements can be catered for.
There is a beautiful multi-purpose room suitable for use as a common room, meeting room or banquet hall comfortably seating 60 people. This room is decorated to a high standard and is the heart of the building. We also have two other meeting rooms suitable for teaching rooms or break-out rooms seating around 20 people.
Activities range from those on site such as bush craft, archery, crate stack, problem solving, orienteering, climbing wall, tunnel trail, abseiling, challenge course, hill walking, environmental studies and a dedicated Saxon Day, with off-site activities such as open canoeing, kayaking, raft building, rock climbing, mountain biking, caving and more besides. At the Wilderness Centre we have outside buildings and 29 acres of land, and farm animals on site.

Our beautiful multi-purpose room suitable for use as a common room, meeting room or banquet hall comfortably seating 60 people.

Table football and board games available - a dedicated games area can be set up depending on your requirements. Please contact us.

Central heating. No open fires.

Bedrooms

10 spacious bedrooms dormitory style bunks. Rooms sleep from 2 to 8. Total 54 plus camping. Wardrobes. Pillows provided.

Linen

Pillows provided. Guests to bring linen, pillow cases and quilt/sleeping bags. Teachers'/leaders' bedding provided.

Bathrooms

Separate girls/boys shower and toilet blocks. Separate shower/toilet block for teachers/leaders. No en suite facilities.

Children's Facilities

No special facilities for children.

Outdoor

Picnic benches, pizza oven, barbecues and extensive grounds amounting to 29 acres. Camp fires by agreement.

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool. The nearest is only a couple of miles away at Cinderford.

On-site parking.

Smoking

No smoking inside the buildings. Smoking permitted outside.
