Wolford Lodge, Honiton, Devon

Sleeps 6 - 14 6 Bedrooms 14 Dining

Beautiful dog friendly holiday house near Honiton with a tennis court, sleeping 14 for multi generational family get togethers and special occasions

Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Wolford Lodge, Honiton, Devon, sleeps 6 - 14 in 6 bedrooms.

Wolford Lodge is an architecturally acclaimed Arts and Crafts house, now available as a holiday house near Honiton, set within a Blackdown Hills valley with beautiful views and surrounding countryside. Built in 1929, this family holiday house has the best of traditional features including sash windows and open fireplaces, with additional contemporary home comforts for an enjoyable stay.

Multi generation families and friends will love Wolford Lodge for its position and excellent transport links, for a Devon holiday or easy for a weekend visit. Situated in 158 acres of grounds and woodland, there is oodles of space for kids and the dogs to let off steam, as well as walking trails for keen hikers from the door. A 30 minute stroll will take you to the pub in Broadhembury for lunch out or a pint before dinner.

A private drive leads up to this gorgeous house, with the entrance opening onto a spacious hallway and a separate entrance leading to the boot room for the dogs and storing wellies and coats. The drawing room off the hall space is a lovely light room with French doors to the terrace - a wonderful place to relax after supper over a coffee next to the open fire. The snug or study offers a smaller sitting room with TV, games and books, giving separate space for a mixed age group. The kitchen is fully equipped with top notch appliances for meal preparation and includes a separate utility room as well as a larder. The open plan style living kitchen diner suits a group for maximum time together.

Of the 6 bedrooms, 5 are doubles and 1 a quad, an option for the children to bunk down together. The 2 bathrooms are stunning; one has mosaic Moroccan tiles and Lefroy Brooks fittings with window fabrics supplied by Carolina Irving. The other bathroom has a large walk-in power shower with an amazing spray shower head. An original 1920s, recently re-enamelled roll top bath is still in situ for a long soak.

If the weather holds, the south facing terrace off the drawing room is just the ticket for a barbecue or drinks, with distant sea views over the Jurassic Coast. Chill out with a favourite tipple and help the kids toast some marshmallows on the firepit. Or make the most of the opportunity to watch roe deer, woodcock and buzzards during a wander in Wolford Lodge's woodland. And the children will absolutely love the zip wire in the woods too!

Honiton is a lively market town on the banks of the River Otter. Visit in the spring and catch the carpets of bluebells at Hembury Fort and Blackbury Camp. Crealy Great Adventure Park is within 30 minutes and a good family day out. And the awesome Jurassic Coast isn't far away for some fossil hunting or a great family day at the seaside.
