With approximately 4,500 sq ft of accommodation, 6 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms and around an acre of gardens, terraces and decking, Woodend offers an exceptional setting for family holidays, multi-generational gatherings, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and special occasions. And Woodend is now very much a year-round destination, with a new soundproofed basement cinema, snug and entertainment area, a year-round hot tub and 2-night stays available from October to February. Pool, Hot Tub & Outdoor Living At the heart of Woodend’s outdoor space is our spectacular 11.5-metre heated infinity swimming pool, surrounded by decking and overlooking the sea. Alongside it is a year-round hot tub heated to approximately 40°C, covered outdoor bar, extensive terraces, BBQ area and gardens. With approximately an acre of grounds, there is plenty of space for larger groups to spread out, including lawns for children and games and quieter areas for relaxing. New Soundproofed Cinema, Snug & Entertainment Area Our new basement entertainment area has transformed Woodend into a fantastic house for all-weather and year-round group stays. The soundproofed basement includes a dedicated cinema room with 65” Sky Glass 4K, Dolby surround sound, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports, together with a separate snug/social room for drinks, music and relaxing. A high-end SONOS multi-room sound system, controlled from a dedicated iPad, provides music throughout the entertainment area. The basement also benefits from additional bathroom facilities, including a traditional roll-top bath and separate shower room – particularly useful for larger groups. Most importantly, it gives guests somewhere purpose-designed to continue enjoying themselves later in the evening. Our pool, hot tub, outdoor bar and terraces close at 10pm to respect our neighbours. After this time, guests can move indoors to the soundproofed basement for music, drinks, films, sport and entertainment. It makes Woodend particularly well suited to groups wanting to celebrate an occasion while still respecting the residential setting of the house. Autumn & Winter Weekends – 2-Night Stays From October through February we reduce our minimum stay to just 2 nights, making Woodend ideal for weekend getaways, birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions and winter celebrations. Enjoy a coastal walk or afternoon exploring Torquay, come home to the 40°C hot tub, gather everyone around the dining table and then head downstairs for drinks, SONOS music and a film in the cinema. The swimming pool is kept heated and open for as long as autumn weather conditions allow. A magnificent deciduous tree overlooking the pool looks beautiful as the leaves change colour, but periods of strong wind and heavy leaf fall can occasionally make pool operation impractical. Once the autumn leaves have fallen, we aim to reopen the heated pool in December for Christmas and New Year bookings. The hot tub remains available throughout the year, regardless of swimming-pool availability. If use of the pool is particularly important for an autumn booking, please ask us about its current availability when enquiring. Additional Ground-Floor Accommodation For groups wanting additional accommodation or a little more privacy, we also have a separate self-contained ground-floor flat which may be available to add to your booking by prior arrangement and subject to availability. This provides an additional king-size bed and separate accommodation, making it particularly useful for grandparents, another couple or members of an extended family who would appreciate having their own space while remaining part of the group. Please ask about this when enquiring. Fantastic Location Woodend is just a short walk from Meadfoot Beach and within easy reach of Torquay harbour, marina, restaurants, bars and attractions. The surrounding English Riviera offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks, restaurants, theatre and golf, while Dartmoor and the wider South Devon countryside are easily accessible. Celebrations at Woodend Woodend is our much-loved family home rather than a traditional party venue, but we are very happy to consider birthdays, anniversaries, family celebrations and other special occasions by prior arrangement. The combination of extensive social spaces, large dining areas, hot tub, pool, outdoor bar and our new soundproofed cinema, snug and SONOS entertainment area means groups have plenty of places to spend time together whatever the weather. Outdoor social areas close at 10pm, after which later-evening entertaining should move indoors to the soundproofed basement.
