The Woodlands Centre, a big Victorian bunkhouse in Betws-y-Coed, is set up perfectly for youth organisations and school groups (including Scouts, Guides and groups from other youth organisations) for an active residential break in Eryri National Park. At this Centre, young people get the opportunity to make new friends and develop personal skills and confidence in a relaxed setting.

The Centre sleeps up to 33 people across 8 bedrooms on 3 floors, giving plenty of room for gender separation, and with smaller rooms for group leaders. Groups enjoy exclusive use of the whole bunkhouse as standard, so no sharing of any facilities with another group.

Inside, there’s a large common room for evening games and downtime together, a fully equipped kitchen for group cooking, a drying room for wet kit, and hot showers ready after a long day outdoors. There’s also outdoor seating for fresh air breaks or planning the next adventure.

The location of the Woodlands Centre makes it a great base for accessing a wide range of outdoor activities. Just a stones throw from the centre of Betws-y-Coed and right in the heart of Eryri, with hiking trails, mountain biking routes, climbing spots, orienteering courses and canoeing all on the doorstep. Local activity providers run sessions for all ages, and the Centre can point groups in the right direction.

Shops and cafés are only a short walk away, and the North Wales coast is only a 30 minute drive.

Woodlands is run by The Barn Outdoor Pursuits Association, a registered charity that aims to keep outdoor adventures affordable. Prices for youth and school groups are heavily discounted, with exclusive use available midweek. This makes the Centre a budget friendly option for groups wanting to get into the mountains without high accommodation costs.

Whether it’s a week of activities, a team building trip, a Duke of Edinburgh expedition base or a simple group getaway, the Woodlands Centre gives young people a safe, lively and practical place to stay while they explore this wonderful area.

- **Bathrooms:** Large bathrooms (can be gender split): One with 4 toilets and 3 showers, another with 2 showers and 2 toilets. Single shower, toilet and one en suite.
- **Outdoor:** Good sized grounds with a large driveway. Picnic benches and peaceful garden.
- **Swimming Pool:** The nearest public swimming pool is in Llanrwst 4.8 miles.
- **Parking:** Free off road parking for approximately 7 cars or 2 minibuses.
- **Smoking:** Smoking is not allowed.
