Organising a big group trip can be tricky, especially when it comes to travel, but don’t worry National Express Transport Solutions have put together their top tips for group travel. Whether you’re planning a large hen party in the Lake District or you’re organising a big family reunion, these travel tips are sure to ease the stress of it all.

Let’s get started…

1. Decide on your group’s destination

First and foremost, where is your group going? Are you looking for a city break in a European city, or are you staying within the UK? And how many will be going away?

It’s important to make sure you have the answers to these questions to make the process as simple as possible. Your Travel Consultant will need these details so they can ensure an accurate quote is provided.

2. Group size matters

Group size will impact the type of vehicle(s) you’ll need to transport your group. Generally, 8 – 16 passengers will need a minibus but groups over 16 will need a coach. You can even treat yourself to a luxury VIP vehicle with additional features such as rear lounges and kitchens!

3. Finalise your pick up and drop off locations

Alongside your group size, making sure you’ve got exact postcodes of your pick up and drop off locations will make the travel planning process a lot easier for you, trust us! It allows your Travel Consultant to ensure accurate mileage and driver hours are correct. Incorrect information can slow down the process and could alter your final quote.

4. Timings

Once you’ve got your postcodes you’ll need to let your Travel Consultant know whether you need the vehicle and driver to stay. If it’s a one day event, normally it’s more cost effective for the driver to stay but if your group needs to be dropped off and then picked up two weeks later, the driver will return to the depot.

5. Don’t worry about the weight of your luggage!

If you’re worried that those extra few outfits will make you go over your 20kg luggage allowance then don’t worry! With group coach hire you don’t actually have a weight limit. As long as all of your bags can fit in the hold under the coach then you’re okay. Our drivers will help you board your luggage though so don’t go overboard, they still need to be able to lift them!

So, there you have it! Our top tips to get you prepared for your private coach hire. What are you waiting for? Get in touch to see how we can help.
