In the north of Surrey, Epsom is a market town famous for its salts and being home to the Epsom Derby. It became a spa town in Georgian times, when Epsom salts were discovered and became a cure for all sorts of health issues. When you visit, you can still buy the salts to try yourself, but spend some time wandering the pretty streets too, filled with great little shops and places to eat. If you’re in a group of horse racing fans then don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Downs racecourse, just a couple of miles out of the town, where you can soak up the atmosphere even if it isn’t a race day. And for theme-park loving groups, then Chessington World of Adventures is nearby too.
