If you’d like to stay in a big villa in the Greek Islands, there’s an endless choice of superb destinations. All the islands enjoy a fantastic climate and serve up delicious local cuisine, but the landscapes vary from one island to another. Rent a holiday home on Crete, one of Greece’s most famous islands, if you want to enjoy plenty of variety — from gorgeous beaches to an array of cultural heritage such as the famous Minoan Palace at Knossos and the classical site of Gortys.

In the Ionian islands, you can rent a holiday home in Corfu for sandy beaches such as Agios Georgios; lively nightlife in resorts such as Kavos; green inland scenery; and peaceful fishing villages. Head to a villa in Zante for its peaceful, lush interior and lively beaches; or stay in group accommodation in Kefalonia, the incredibly beautiful Greek island made famous by Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.

In the Dodecanese islands, stay at a big villa in Rhodes to enjoy popular beaches and great nightlife, plus excursions to visit famous historical attractions if you fancy a day away from the resorts.

And if you fancy a holiday on mainland Greece you can find stumble across some of the country’s most authentic towns and villages, alongside impressive archaeological sites and gorgeous beaches. Stay in a large villa near Athens, the Greek capital, to enjoy the sunshine and go sightseeing in the city, taking in some of Europe’s most amazing historical sites. The best-known attractions are within a short walk of Syntagma Square in the city centre. After visiting the Acropolis you can wander downhill to explore the historic districts of Plaka, Monastiraki and Thissio, dotted with Roman ruins and 19th century neoclassical residences. Nearby, the Ancient Agora includes the Temple of Hephaestus, the best preserved ancient Greek temple, and the Attalos Stoa, a museum housed in an ancient building.

Elsewhere on the Greek Mainland, you can hire a holiday home in Central Greece or a big holiday villa in Northern Greece if you enjoy getting off the beaten track and enjoying regions that are relatively untouched by tourism. You’ll still have famous attractions within striking distance, such as the city of Thessaloniki with its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments.
